bluetooth voice commands

I feel like this is a simple question, however I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I picked up a bluetooth handsfree headset, is there a way to activate the voice command menu by pressing the key on the headset? (essentially eliminating dialing while driving)

If you are on Froyo or a custom rom that has that feature it may. I use Bugless Beast 0.3 and it works like a champ.

so are you saying that you can press the button on the headset and then say " Call Mike" and it works?

I wish to be able to do exactly that, but I don't have Froyo or a custom rom so it isnt looking to good

You cannot use voice activation thru bluetooth on the eris. The stock software doesnt support it. if you root your phone or are using software 2.2(froyo) then it would be possible.

I've been told the Eris software does not allow for that, but that the next software update MAY. Its been a bone of contention for me since I got it.
