Before i bought this phone i was looking at the specs and saw it had FM tuner in it, but once i bought it it was missing FM radio app...so after trying multiple HTC radio apks from other devices that wouldnt work i finally found a fix.

Get Spirit FM from the store (i got full unlocked version, but light should work too i think),change audio method to HTC, plug in headphones(acts as antenna, wont work without it) and you have working over-the-air fm radio on your phone!

Puzzles me that they would include the fm chip but no software to utilize it...

edit: forgot to mention that it has a bug that sometimes makes all my ringers silent after using it. just restart after use and it'll be back to normal ;p

I'm not rooted either but it worked for me If it's reception you're not getting, you have to use headphones...it acts as the antenna (as mentioned from above). It's really nice to have though :)

There's actually one for the phone from HTC. Htcfmradio.apk. (which led me to find a flash package) a bit of Google searching and I found this...

just install with cwm :)

Can you please help a newbie out and post directions or a link to a website that has instructions on how to install this file onto my EVO design 4G phone, Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

try it with the link from kevindroid. no need to unlock bootloader. install es file manager or any file manager [ astro, explorer, linda] now follow the link in my prior post download apk. open a file manager, open sd card, goto htcfmradio, click it now click install. alldone. hope this helped you. enjoy

I was able to install it but everytime i run the FM Radio app, it crashes and I have to reboot the phone. do you know of another radio app I can try to install? Does Spirit Radio light work on the EVO design 4G?

It seems odd that the HTC radio app is not installed on this phone by default if the phone has the FM radio hardware. Any idea why they would include the hardware but not the software needed to use it?
