Root [Boost Mobile] .9 png question...

So, I've read a lot about these pesky .9.png files...But one thing I don't understand...everyplace I read says don't edit the border don't change the border color...what happens if you do? Will the world end? Will my phone vomit rainbows? Or will the APK force close repeatedly...?

I figure, before I do this...I want to ask some opinions. I don't want to break anything.

Don't mess with the borders... the reason .9s are special is because they have special coding that can resize and reshape them... mess with the borders and their coding won't work correctly...

Ah okay...see no place ever went into detail WHY I couldn't edit them...they just said don't...so I wasn't sure. Thanks for clarifying that; That makes them more annoying to modify...>_>
