I know in the guide there's a thread with a bit of info on this, but I'd like others to share their experience with what app's they were able to freeze/uninstall without issues ( aka if there are more then just Mobile ID, Global Time, Docs To GO, Boost Zone, ), has anyone found more apps that are removable without issues, also does freezing an app cause similar issues? ( I just got the pro version of titanium backup so I'm asking before i go trial and error )

After you get rid of mobile ID you can install this launcher replacement to be a stock launcher alternative. Do it with ADB though.

Installing Applications With Android SDK

It is possible to install APK files without utilizing the Android Market, although the process is more difficult and complex. To avoid the Android Market, you need to use Android SDK.

1. Download and install the Google Android SDK program and the Android USB drivers. The download links are as follows: Android SDK | Android Developers
2. Google USB Driver | Android Developers
3. You need to modify your Android’s settings to allow the installation of applications from other sources. Under “Settings,” select “Application Settings” and then enable “Unknown Sources.” Also under “Settings,” select “SD Card” and “Phone Storage,” and finally enable “Disable Use for USB Storage”
4. This last step is easy. Open Command Prompt and type the following: adb install <1>/<2>.apk
5. However, when you type the command, replace <1> with the path to your APK file and replace <2> with the name of the APK file.
6. You&#8217;re done! Your application is now ready for your use and enjoyment.

Or someone could make an update.zip to install it using CWM.

This is just the gingerbread launcher with no frills or alterations like mobileID.

Im gonna try it out, but I was more questioning freezing/then uninstalling stuff via titanium backup, right now i have Frozen: Android keyboard, bluetooth share, calender, google backup transport, google calendar sync, google contacts sync, google search, home screen tips, maps, package access helper, pico tts, sound recorder, stopwatch, street view, talk, voice dialer and voice search, vpn services, xt9 text input...some of these things others may use, I do not, now, since I haven't noticed any issues while frozen, can i go ahead and uninstall these?

Freezing an app has the same affect as if you removed/uninstalled it from the phone. You can test it by Freezing the email app, and then go try your camera, you will find that the camera no longer works.

This is why freezing is really nice for testing apps and issues before you actually uninstall or remove them from the phone.

Now I had some questions:
1: What does boost zone do exactly? My suspicion is it's just a notifier like tweet, or messaging and such, just keeps you up to date on boost stuff, correct? Also I have seen it posted it is safe to remove boost zone, have you had any side affects from removing it? or anyone else for that matter.

2: Mobile id, what is that, and removing it will it affect the phone that anyone knows of? I haven't frozen that yet, thought someone on here might know before I do that.

I wouldn't remove them so quickly, I'd give it a week or so just to be 100% sure, as one of the apps you froze may be connected to another app that you haven't used yet, or the phone hasn't used yet, and that you may only use the one time....but that one time will be the killer part if you delete them quickly.

I didn't find out about my camera app and email until almost 1 1/2 weeks later, because I don't use my camera that much. So when I did finally find out, it was some time later before I did find out.

I personally would leave them a good 2 weeks, maybe even a month. The frozen apps won't appear on your phone anyways, they should be gone from the app drawer, so they shouldn't be a bother anyways

Well something caused me not to be able to even make a call, I defrosted Package Access helper, Pico TTS, Talk 1.3, TTS Service, voice dialer, voice search, and vpn services, and everythings stable again, i wonder which of those caused the problem b/c the less the better. i have a feeling it was vpn services, not sure though, guess i'll keep playing with it.....THis launcher above though, Will it be replacing all my user app/system data? Or is it similar to Mobile ID where its an additional minimal launcher?

As far as your questions ^, Mobile ID and Boost Zone have absolutely no negative effect, I removed those right away, complete bloatware, Mobile ID was this feature where you can download ID packs preloaded with a bunch of crap app's, and switch between diff ID's, and one of them was the preloaded Boost, other available options were like MTV, E entertainment, just bundles of Apps, that you could switch from basically launcher/homescreen/whatever you call it ( this is my understanding of it)

So the .zip you attached cannot be installed via CWM? And the part about USB, won't erase any of my data and i can still switch back to usb storage afterwards?

Global time, Doc to go,Mobile ID, and Boost Zone can be safely uninstalled, there is a whole thread deadicated to removing bloatware, http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/459858-removing-apks.html#post3611041

I wanted to start a new thread kind of differently whether this was wrong or not i dont know, but if you read through that one, you'll see that the apks mentioned above have already been thoroughly tested/approved to have no negative effects. I'm experimenting with more and hoping people will give their input. Talk i did end up defrosting, im not sure if it was it but one of the apps i froze stopped me from making phonecalls alltogether...but yeah read up on that previous thread.

Yeah I read the post you referred to, but if you notice at the top it says removing the email app, which if yu use the camera at all, it's a no-no.

That thread hasn't really been a definitive "yes" or "no" about what apps can be removed in my opinion.
It would be nice to have a thread that is more concrete as to a "yes to these apps" and "no to these apps" or maybe a "ok to remove list", so I'll start one here.

So far what I have read is you can remove the following without harm:
-Global time
-Doc to go
-Mobile ID
-Boost Zone
From what am getting as the norm.

As for talk, I just tested it a few mins ago, and I made a phone call just fine, so it wasn't the talk app at all.
Upon further google search I found out what the talk app is, it's basically a im/chat for/from Google, it's also called Google talk. I froze it because I prefer other apps better, just as I prefer to use handcents for my messaging instead of the stock messaging. I am going to freeze that as well.

same here exactly same, well i have maps frozen also until i need them, b/c they seem to load all the time. also bluetooth share b/c i don't use it, calender b/c i use Jorte, and a bunch of google stuff.

so i kinda just wanted to bump this, i think it should be more of a priority, as were getting closer to getting some complete custom roms, input as far as what system apps people have frozen/uninstalled sucessfully, which they have not, and what errors/issues they have run into while attempting to do so, can be very useful for rom creation/customization. Personally I'd love the first 100% working rom that's fully stable/functional/ worth the download, to have absolutely as much bloatware removed as possible.

if i run into any issues and if not add them to the permafreeze/uninstall zone.

idk if my thinking is no pun intended 'warped', but i believe as much knowledge of system bloatware removal and it's effects on regular phone use, is important/integral to rom creation.

Is there anything wrong with just running autostarts and killing all the apps from running when they feel like it. That way there still there......I guess it's like freezing them to. Well I use autostarts and it works great. Good luck.

I use that also, but system apps have services that will just auto restart regardless.

IDK but my stuff will not auto start at all when I'm running auto starts. Even the other stuff besides my regular apps I installed. Make sure you go through the whole auto start list and turn em all off.....well I mean only the ones that are starting like that. It worked for me but I turned off a few things by mistake and couldn't get some things working again. So be careful..... really. Good luck man

I disabled the orm-drm's in my app setting about three weeks ago with no problems at all.
