Root [Boost Mobile] Cannot flash/backup/restore with TWRP

For weird reasons, TWRP cannot locate my SD card (32GB Class 4). It just says it cannot located E: when I try to backup a ROM. I tried my sisters SD card (2GB Class 2) and TWRP located the card without a problem. I reformatted my SD card, but no avail. :l

Sounds like when my old 16bg started going. Within a week it was compleatly dead.

If you have another card that works grab the zip from the stickies to flash cwm recovery. Then try your card again.

I just recently had this problem. It took a long time for me to find a solution and for good reasons and you'll see why. Follow these steps:

1) Mount your sd card in the pc somehow. Via your phone or sd card reader, it doesn't matter how you do it.

2) Open up your preferred utility to format and format the sd card to FAT32

3) Throw a small file or even a rom to test

4) This is the most important step. If you dont do this correctly then it doesn't matter how many times you mount or format. You -must- 'eject' the card. On windows I think it's Safe Removal or something, I havent used windows in quite some time so Im not 100% on that.

5) Throw the sd card back into the phone if you took it out and test. Open up your preferred recovery and try a backup then install a rom if you put it on your card

Like I said one day out of the blue my card stop reading in recovery, but i constantly take my card out and swap it out to my pc, always transferring files and such. One time I forgot to unmount my card (safely remove it) and all of a sudden recovery didnt recognize / mount it. So I had to reformat the card. Luckily I always keep backups on my pc. I hope this helps, I know it's real effin frustrating lol I was rippin my hair out for days tryin to figure it out and it turns out it was something real simple

Oh! So it sounds like it's Windows' good old write-behind caching at work again, corrupting the filesystem. I swear that bug-disguised-as-a-feature has cost more data that it was ever, ever worth. You can disable it in the system settings, which I highly recommend.

Wow I didn't know you can disable it, but at the time that my malfuntion happened I was using Ubuntu Precise, so I know that wasn't the culprit for me, but could very well be someone else's nightmare!

Edit: I just know that I figured it out when I read about people not properly ejecting their devices (or unmounting...whatever your case may be) so it does something weird to the card and thus makes it unreadable in other devices. What was strange though is that my card wouldnt mount in CWM or TWRP but i was able to read/write to it through es file manager until I properly formatted and powered down the drive

Yep , friggin Microsoft corrupted my SD. Now I will chase them with a stick, I will have my revenge!

Unfortunately, The above methods did not work.
I did take notice that when I mount my SD card to my computer. It either mounts as F: or G: drive. No other device is plugged in beside my phone. My DVD drive is D: so it does not make sense for my phone or computer to skip drive E: I've plugged my phone in other ports but I get the same thing. I'm buying an SD card reader today, See if anything changes.

That happens all the time and is normal, skipping a drive letter, All my PC'S and Laptops have been like that. Hope the new card reader helps. But it will still prolly show up as something other than E. Really doesn't affect anything.:)

Im sorry that method didn't work for you, I know you cant read the sdcard in cwm or twrp but can you read/write to it once you boot your rom?

All you need to do is flash cwm from your sisters SD card then afterwards open cwm recovery, insert the SD card that's messed up, now toto advanced and select partition SD card then select your swap size and the apps2sd partition and remove battery after its finished. Lastly re enter recovery and see if your SD card works then reflash twrp and your set.
IF THIS HELPS HIT THAT THANKS BUTTON!!!
