Root [Boost Mobile] chainfire - good idea or not?

Snake X

:S I'm verry iffy on this program.. I want to know if it would be a good idea to put this on the warp to play games such as fruit ninja THD or games from the nvidia tegra zone..

Well.. Here goes (I'll edit this post once I'm done)

Edit: this is why I didn't want to do it (sorry for the pic being upside down)

I believe its ok if you try it, you could always flash the original firmware off of ZTE.

(but to be more specific... what is it exactly that chainfire does for the games?)

Im actually currently playing a nvidia based game on my warp.

Its ShadowGun and works perfectly fine without chainfire.

Chainfire is an app that translates GPU code from one chipset instruction set to another. For example, if a game is written for the Nvidia tegra 2 chipset but your phone could still probably do it and didn't have it, chainfire will translate that code to communicate with your say.. qualcomm arduino gpu so it can play it without an actual tegra chipset.

Before I try it, I'd rather wait for a custom recovery to back up my phone rom.. :S

Ahhh ok i see. I also understand custom recovery is very useful but you dont necessarily need it to recover just in case it messes up. I accidentally erased the boot process with Root Explorer, and then it wouldnt even boot up. As long as you can put it in FTM mode its all fine. (FTM mode would be like putting it on custom recovery.

EDIT: Quick question! I dont seem to be getting my firmware update? is it because of the are im in?

Drivers installed as in how? Well ill go to system update settings on the warp and hit firmware update but it just keeps on telling me im up to date.
Is there a way to get the update online? Or is it OTA only?
