Root [Boost Mobile] Change Android Builds

This might sound real weird, or out of place but I was just wondering something. What I wanted to do was setup a build environment on my laptop which is only Ubuntu 12.10 32 bit. From what I understand with that, I can only compile anything up to API level 8 (Froyo). Say I setup the build environment and successfully compiled Froyo, would I be able to flash it on an Android phone that had say gingerbread on it? I'm not looking to touch my warp, but I do believe I have a spare android phone around the house that had gingerbread on it that I would love to use as a tester phone while I learn how to do all this stuff. I've searched and couldn't find an answer, hopefully you good folks have one :)

Thanks in advance

Yes you could, as far as I know. It'd be pretty cool if someone could downgrade this Warp, I wouldn't might a light speedy Froyo rom on here :) but anyways yes you can build and flash froyo on GB. I've done it on the HTC Glacier before

Dude... You'd be just as screwed as we are trying to port jellybean... Don't do it... Its not worth the enormous headache... Just think... We never even got a functional aosp gb rom

Thank's jetx2x:D We need Jelly Bean!!!!;):D
