So, I've decided I want to edit the default MMS apk file...the reason I use any other MMS client is because the white is just...hurts my head after a while. So...are there special images like a .9 png I need to edit, or is it in the xml files?

What are you using to edit the xmls? When I try with notepad ++, it looks like...well....gibberish ><

Yeah I think the white is in the xml but I haven't really looked at it all that much so idk...

You have to decompile the apk with apktool... after an apk is compiled then all of the XML data is exported to the resources.arsc file... so you have to decompile them before you can read and edit them

Ohh. That makes sense. And i didn't know I had to decompile first...no wonder its gibberish. Learn something new every day!

Yep... all of the xml data is in resources.arsc and all of the smali is in the classes.dex

Hmm. I tried doing Apollos ninjamorph method...didn't seem to help at all >.< It shows up as gibberish still...let me try APK Tool, see what i can get out of that...

I would advise that you download and use apk manager... it simplifies the process.... if not you will have to learn your way around a command prompt

Yeah, I'm trying APK Tool right now. Though if I have to do it manually...Well its been a while but I can figure it out xP (By a while I mean only 4 months when I was editing smali files and flashing phones...I forget so much in such a short time...)

Lol... I'm the same way... but decompiling is only the first step... the actual xmls after you decompile are kinda confusing at first... I've been staring at the systemui and framework-res xmls for at least 20+ hours in the last 2 weeks and I can understand and edit them pretty easily now... the mms apk is simpler and smaller in size so it should be easier to do

Anything is simpler than trying to edit CM7 on an HTC Evo Shift to run on Virgin Mobile -.-; That took me literally 3 days of nearly no sleep to get the stupid cdmasmsdispatcher.smali to be correct. >.< But I FINALLY did it. Then dumped VM cos they sucked >>

Bloody hell. Trying to recompile the damn APK, I'm getting a message saying the system cannot find the file specified...>.< I have no idea what I'm doing wrong now. Thoughts? I didn't move any files T_T

Are you doing it from the command prompt? If so then try using the full file location

I'm using the APK Manager, multitool, whatever its called these days >> It decompiled without a problem. Weird. I have the latest JDK and AndroidSDK installed, too. Hmm.

Try decompiling and recompiling another app
