Root [Boost Mobile] guide me in the right direction

I'm looking to get into rom development, I'm a bit naive about it but consider myself good enough at rooting and using Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen to make friends custom layouts for their warps. but i want in deeper and I'm having trouble finding the right door to open to get me into the dev side to create a real ROM of my own, and i want to actually learn how to tweak the phone for best performance because golauncher just isn't cutting it lol.

Well start slow and edit your phone to you liking such as removing bloatware add your own apps in :D then you can go from there add system and build.prop tweaks

Exactly what apollo said. Remove tons of crap and see if it boots, and if it does, start adding your own. I'm working on an update for my first rom ever :D Its actually kinda fun
 
also there crt effects and power menu you can add for effects :D but like i said start slow and edit the phone to your liking :D
