Root [Boost Mobile] [GUIDE][MK5][WIP]Rooting MK5 4.3 for Newbies!

I am on NDC modem, since my newest one was Knox'd from factory. I did the OTA to 4.4.2 per your advice before I started rooting. Using the guide here for MK5 still works even on 4.4.2, thankfully. :)

Alright. Since you've tried the fix I linked you to and it didn't work your only option is to flash either the Sprint version of the rooted stock ROM or flash a custom ROM with the hotspot. You will need to use the hotspot fix to unlock the hotspot on the stock Sprint ROM.

Currently running version 4.4.2
i see that i have samsung knoxx 3.0 and the download mode shows this as follows:
Odin Mode
name; sph-L710
binary: samsung official
system status: official
qualcomm secureboot: enable
warranty bit:0
bootloader ap swrev:2
lol what am i seeing and which root method should i use?

I am having a issue with the binary being updated, I followed everything from this post no problem, but supposedly SU is indeed installed but the binary will not update, can anyone help me out. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I don't wanna brick/soft brick it, its only 2 days old lol.

Hello All,
Thanks to all the developers out there. I've been on this site science I rooted my Samasung Transform Ultra with boost. Happy with everything for years. You guys are the best. Back then I took out the data and wifi on my phone, and now I did it again with my new S3. I put Philz recovery on, and went for the Static Power Rom. It looked great, but the service would turn on and off over and over again. So I flashed a MK7 modem and the API fix to see if that worked. Now I got nothing. No service. I tried formating everything, and doing a restore, and that didnt work. It seems all these Roms want Sprint. So am I unlocking the phone with all this? Or we just want our boost phones to get turn up to the top tier of Sprint's network? What part I'm I missing? Really appreciate you guys. Sorry for the story. Thank for anyone who can help.

Nicholas

Same here. Well, it wasn't just I installed, and I had no data, been rooted for years these guys are the best, just the data was intermittent like on a couple seconds then off for couple seconds. So I in my infinite stupidity flashed a new modem. Now, service is all gone and soft bricked my data. Thought I would have had this since I learned on my transform ultra. A lot has changed and we all have boost phones that boot screen like Sprint. Oh face palm for my ignorance. Once I get this sorted out, I can't wait to try all these features. I mean the transform ultra had two or three roms. Thank you Cyanogen and Merykat, and all these others how rock this house up.

Hello all, been a long time member and have had great success with ROM's and what not on multiple phones I have had so thanks for that:) I'm about to receive an S3 soon and will be rooting it but I have a couple questions hopefully are easily answered. The model I'm getting is L720 and i've noticed that all of the mods in this forum are for L710, I don't think it will be an issue but wanted to confirm first. Also I've been looking for a more updated version of Philz but have only found version 6.00.8, the links here seem to be dead. Anyone know where to find a more current version? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a 6.48.4 for Philz, not sure if its newest? Philz has not been updated in a long time and is dead, it still works though. They say TWRP is working great and is updated and active. If I were you I would use that. Just make sure to read very carefully, there is a 720T model and is different from the regular 720 model. So only use and do for your model with anything you do, roms, kernels, odin, ect.

The sph-l720 is the S4 not the S3. Maybe that was a typo but I thought I would point that out. A quick Google search confirmed it.

Yes you are correct, it is indeed L710. I received the phone today and checked but now dealing with a different issue lol. It's actually a sprint phone i'm going to use on the boost network which shouldn't be a problem since boost uses the sprint network anyway but not sure if that changes anything as far as the root guide I use?

Thanks to "The Britton" and all who have contributed to this guide as well as all the other helpful time and effort that goes into this site and these awesome mods! As always things worked out smooth with rooting my phone and applying further mods/roms. Great work just as it's always been and thanks for your help, my hats off to you.............cheers!
