Root [Boost Mobile] ODIN Backup for --> SPH-L710_MD7 stock

...now to figure out the power off static screen and why the update doesnt work and ill be good...

can you send me the boot.img from your first backup... and/or try flashing it yourself ---- cwm... advanced restore... boot/kernel .... its worth testing.

I managed to reset my phone to stock with Boost animation in the beginning and no sprint animation during shut down.

I got as far as being able to get Kies to recognize the phone as Boost and flash the MD7 firmware. The firmware that Kies downloaded is the same one that got posted in this Virgin Mobile Section
http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...t/753321-i-have-found-stock-firmware-md7.html

Apparently that firmware is used with multiple carriers.
Originally when I saw that post I flashed that firmware but still had no Boost Mobile boot screen and had the Sprint shutdown.

I then found out that if you dial *#272*MEID# (substitute your actual numeric MEID in place of the letters) it will bring you to a Sales Code screen where you can select between BST, SPR, VMU or XAS. So naturally I selected BST and like magic the phone got reset to factory once again with Boost Mobile boot screen and no Sprint shut down animation.

I copied the actual TAR file that Kies used to flash my phone with before Kies deleted it when it was done with it. But since it's already out there I don't see a need to upload it anywhere.

Hope any of this helps.

One more thing.
After all that, getting the phone to bone stock and making sure that the Custom Binary Download counter was at zero and Current Binary and System Status said Official the new update still failed in the same spot as before. Maybe I'm not exactly as stock as I thought I was.

I have no clue what all this means, but that's the error when running the system update.

I updated the links... all should work perfectly now, i dont know about ota update though....

please give me feedback

gl

i just got the ota update to take while having root... i will have to add one more odin file, i used one of the first ones i posted... will update this thread tomorrow

I flashed stock w/ root. When I power off, the phone reboots.
Also the build number and baseband is MD7.

the baseband should be MD7 for this one, so that is good...

i too had the reboot issue, it confuses me because it was from the Kies firmware... i had to revert back to the original files i was making from actual phones... if more people have the issues with the kies firmware i will remove those links... i figured the Kies firmware would be as pure as it can be and issue free

How do I flash entire stock so I could test.

For some reason it download as an md5 file. I erased the .tz off the end and its all good now.

Thanks.

I would keep it as an md5... that way youand odin knows its not corrupt. ..

It sounds like it worked for czeresniak... maybe try again. But idk

i just flashed this and it brought my charging animation back also brought my baseband back up to MD7 but it still wont complete the OTA update...

Yeah the Kies firmware confuses me. it will not update using the OTA up date link that I posted at least. it has a lot of files that does not match but it says that its stock firmware for our phone.... the odin file that I used which you can flash over the keysfor some reason it keeps having a frozen system app. just use Titanium Backup to unfreeze it and use a oTA verifier and it should pass and take the update ... that's how I got mine to update

Nope... nope I haven't tried the full but I did pull the system in the boots and the recovery. and I could not get it to update...

this is the one that I got to update after unfreezing system app

TESTED AND WORKING -*has static powered off charging screen
rooted*system / recovery / boot.img (kernel)
this is the one that i was able to take the OTA update
pda--SPH-L710_DM7-my-rooted_system.tar*--- Will take 10-15 minutes to flash

hmmmmmm.... check the md5:
0B896198A266C17427B69AADCB552AF8
1.48 GB (1,593,838,080 bytes)

maybe a reboot, phone and computer...

i used it over and over and over today about 8 or 9 times now

if it still fails i will recreate it on Thursday.

I tried it again and it worked after downloading it for the 3rd time. But this time the OTA didn't take, it failed in the same place as before.
