Root [Boost Mobile] ODIN Backup for --> SPH-L710_MD7 stock

Don't use that link above if you updated to 4.3 OTA. Because of the Knox boot loader it will brick your phone.


The easiest thing to do would be flashing the stock MK5 rom and activating. Then restore a backup of your current rom. http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...exed-deodexed-virgin-mobile-boost-mobile.html
 
little issue samsung will not repair the phone, if i flash this will it replace original modem,

[edit]- been looking for a stock modem for boost mobile, can i flash the boost modem over top a sprint stock rom, the only full stock restore i could find to install a modem and allow my phone to atleast get service was sprint mk3, and i need a boost modem, i hope im not screwed.

[Edit] OK!! got everything back to boost stock, back on mk5 modem, but also back to square one. service for a while then a red X over the signal then signal comes back after a few seconds, been having this problem since the get go, and is the reason i rooted in the first place, to try and fix to no avail. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

if you are trying to flash the MK5 boost rom, you need to go into the recovery CWM/PILZ/TWRP what ever you have, i use phiz, make sure you download the wifi fix i had to cuz wifi would not turn on, wipe data factory reset, copy to phone flash in recovery, then flash wifi fix, reboot system and all should be well.

if you are trying to restore using the sprint rom and modem, full stock, you need to open the program then plug the phone in while in odin mode,
(vol- + home + pwr) then vol+ when prompted. plug into pc then click start.

any questions just ask...:)
 
I think I really did it this time. I was trying to flash back using odin usb, and the usb internally disconnected. The phone is soft bricked now and goes to a screen and says, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. Only problem is that it will not connect to USB. I have tried everything I can think of. I have re-installed the drivers, refreshed device manager. Unplugged and plugged several times. Is this thing dead or what? Any help greatly appreciated.

I wish I knew what to tell you. I've tried to help you in here and through many PM's but everything I've suggested hasn't worked. My knowledge of Kies is limited. If Odin wasn't able to bring your phone back I don't know what else to tell you. There are many members in here who have more experience with using Kies. Hopefully they can help you. I'm sorry to hear you haven't been able to find a fix but I just don't know what else to tell you.

Yep this link will do it as long as you have the time and the ability to follow directions properly get ready to learn a little teeny bit of Linux...

Before you do that I would give odin a few more tries. .. first I recommend trying different USB cables different USB ports and maybe even a different computer!
Get the computer to recognize download mode you'll be good to go!

Oh also try rebooting your computer

Sounds like you're getting into download mode which means your phone is not dead... you just need your computer to connect with it.

Stay hopeful/cheerful, there are people who couldn't even get into download mode that has had their phone fixed using the link above.
 
I agree 100%. As long as you can get into download mode all is not lost. As a matter of fact, if you can get into download mode you should be able to save it with Odin.

I know, to be that close. SO full disclosure here, I bought this phone used on EBAY and not long after I had it I noticed the usb was loose and it quit connecting to the computer or every computer that I hooked it to. I contacted the seller and he agreed to pay to have a new one put on and I did at cell phone repair (CPR). So I'm wondering now if the connection problem is related to the initial problem and maybe instead of it being the usb connector, maybe it was the motherboard? I inspected the motherboard and there is nothing that jumps out at me. I am connecting my Galaxy S2 to the same computer and it instantly connects. I have reboot and tired multiple computer. What else besides the bad flash could make the usb not connect? I appreciate everyone's help with this problem.

There is a possibility that the new charging port has failed. It's strange that it just disconnected while you were in the process of flashing. It usually only does that when it reboots.

As for the phone, since you went ahead and flashed Beanstalk without activating it 1st, you don't even know if it would have activated the way it was when you bought it. Always make sure a used phone will activate before you start flashing ROMs. If it doesn't and the seller listed it as a working phone ready to activate, you can always return it or at least file a claim with Ebay. As it stands now since you've altered the phone from the original way it was purchased, there's no way to tell if it would have actually activated.

I've bought 2 used phones. One from Android Forums classifieds and 1 off of EBay. I made sure both activated before I started modifying them. Phones will usually activate if they are rooted. My Marquee was rooted when I bought it. They need the proper ROM to do so though. Rooted stock is good. Unrooted stock is best.

Yeah. Take it back to the shop that installed it and have them pull it off and test it. Tell them it failed when you were flashing recovery partitions.

Bro, if that port actually did fail, they might just owe you a phone. :D


Edit. Bro, that wasn't buying advice I gave you earlier. It's what and what NOT to do AFTER buying a used phone.
