Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

still having low call volume issue

The in-call volume does seem kinda low. Also when I wake up my phone my home screen blanks out then all the icons pop up.

let's try xloud, I installed it without a problem but can't tell if it made much difference, I didn't think it was too quiet on calls though...

flash in cwm, report back so I know if it helped, I can include it in the next release if it helps, I know jet and shin included it

Well it should say that, then hit on or create swap. It is a pain to get setup but works perfectly afterwards. I recommend 64mb with swappiness set to 60 or 100. File name should be /data/swapfile.swp

It wouldn't create it under /data/...but it did work under /cache/.
So do I have to do anything else or will it work on it's own?

Hey MrBobo,

I have never rooted before but I'm tired of rebooting my phone 10x a day to get my incoming texts/calls and to have my outgoing texts actually send.

After looking around I'm thinking yours is most to my liking and want to try it.

Mind giving me a step by step for installation; having never done it before I don't want to screw it up (or my phone)

Thanks!

The hardest hurdle is to install the custom recovery, to do that, use the ultimate warp drive tool : http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/490927-one-click-process-installing-cwm.html

After the recovery is done installing boot into cwm by powering the phone down, then booting back up while holding the power up until you see the recovery menu. Do a backup, through backup and restore, then install the zip.

Hey all, please note there is a guide thread now for setting up swap, let's continue swap discussion on that thread please, it's a common topic between any roms with dowthemachines kernel.

Bump this, did anyone else try this, did it increase in call volume? I have it on my phone and I think it kind of overdoes it for pandora, I can turn my phone down though to stop the minor distortion it causes for that app.... anyone else try it and have any feedback, good bad or otherwise?

Just flashed n00b 4 and I love it, works seamlessly so far and is in my opinion light years beyond the stock android that came on the phone. Thanks for all the work that went into this!

I have only found one VERY small issue, and not even sure if this has anything to do with the ROM. When using ROM Toolbox I am able to change all the icons except for the reception and battery icons. Any ideas?

I just had more problems idk if its my phn or not...im using unitilogy and then i flashed B08c so i can flash tthis rom. Then i had a problem..i wouldnt have a.lock screen i would press the button to put it to sleep but then i would turn it back on. And theres no lock screen then i would make a call and they would hear me but i couldnt hear them...idk if its my phn or the ROM. I did love everything just had those problems.

I have no experience with ROM toolbox, you might try searching the general warp all things root thread for modding the signal icons, that one was tricky. Never had issues with battery, but I used uot for that.

it's not the ROM, I have never seen either issue, anyone else have these issues? What is installed on the phone, did you restore data in cwm or use titanium to restore apps? Also, make sure it's not somehting on your sd card, if you unzip a rom zip for example it can wreck havoc on your system. Do a CWM backup, then a factory data reset. See if the issues are present with a clean install, if so, reflash the rom and see if you have any issues with a clearn install and no data/apps... if there is still a problem, make a backup of your sd card to your pc and then wipe that too and reboot. After that I am not sure what to do if the issues are still there. My guess is you have either restored some conflicting data or have something unzipped on your sd that's causing issues.

Its a great from n everything works great but its real laggy

no lag here, what is your setup, is it laggy right after installing with no apps/data restored?

Laggy? I never had lag with the Rom...

Thanks Prinny, you always have my back :)
