Root [Boost Mobile] Sd partition?

SelfElevated2

Android Expert
I was wondering if creating an SD partition creates a place for the phone to use as RAM or running apps memory? Does it allow your phone to do more without lagging and restarting to clear memory?
Does it wipe your sd card when partitioning? Only interested in the thoughts of knowledgeable people

Well you could enable swap to sd. I wouldn't recommend it because neither the phone or sd card is meant for constant read/write. The internal warp memory is enough.

Is that a app? Or is it in cwm. Warp memory isn't enough for me I guess. Freezing when I play games with awesome graphics. It's enough most of the time though

Never mind I put in an extra SD card so I didn't risk the saved data on my good 1 and found swap in cwn. Thanks

Haha i like how it was not recomended but you did it anyway. If you wamma try another solution thats not a risky thing get tom toolbox and use your auto mem manager and set how you want your phone to procces things.

Doesn't have to be recommended. If I want to risk the memory card then that's my business isn't it. Because that's all it will hurt. It shortens the life of the SD card. I looked into on xda after being pointed in the right direction by a trusted developer in a pm

And I have rom toolbox pro. And done that. It doesn't really noticeably change anything

I wasnt critisizing hope you dodnt take it that way. I had a lot of fcs and reboots untill i got toolbox pro i set main cpu to max and the min tp around 300 then in the mem i put the first two or three to max (120) and the others to 60 and i havnt had really any issues since and i have quite a bit of stuff i also have a 2gig mem card parition on a 16 gig idk how much space you have but id say its worth a shot if it solves you issues

Yea I have my CPU set the same. Ill try the memory set to those specs. But shinjitsu beta3 is set to support swap to SD. Its in the change log. It basically lets you partition a space on the SD card for more ram. Yeah it lowers the life of the CARD but you should back it up anyway and they aren't that expensive. If it breaks ill get a new one. No harm taken bro

Plus scroll up and look at Yankees picture while reading what he wrote. The thumbs up man was in my peripheral going yea man do it. Just do it lol

Lol, well I found a funny little thing that will make swap easy and not damage your SD. With my kernel installed, download swapper2 from the playstore. Go into settings and change the swap file location from /sdcard/swapfile.swp to /data/swapfile.swp. or whatever the file name is, just change the directory. Now, change the swappiness to 60 and swap file size to whatever you want, I chose 128mb. Now anyone can test this with much lower settings and see what the results are for them. When creating the swap file it takes forever, 128 was about 5 mins. Anyways, I need someone running my kernel to just test this and then go into android terminal and type in "free". See if it says anything but 0 for swap. If so, then you will not need any init.d scripts or to wreck your SD. Pm me with results
Edit:
Mind you I also have a swap partition on the sdcard so swap is double, because there are, as of testing, 2-256mb swaps. Screenshot:

Worked great. Easy as cake to. Looked with root explorer and the swap file is in data not on the SD card.. much easier than going into cwm

What would be the benifit of doing this. Personaly all my things run fine but i like to know when things have potential

Thats cool but cuz im not having issues im gunna hold off untill i see a good amount of review cuz if im not havin issues i shouldnt mess with it lol

Anyone wants to test this, here is my kernel, its stock plus the ability to swap. Works for all roms and stock. Just read the posts above to get started.

Flash through cwm

If there is any demand for my kernel. I'll start a thread
