actually backup and restore was working before

it was just getting erased by the stock ROM

JBrd400 found the culprit first, I would of eventually figured it out

Ok so if I were to create a custom rom (not nandroid), I would put that file in /system/bin to patch it, right?

i have a stupid question,in cwm , mounts and storage, what should be mounted and what should not?right now i have system and data mounted..sorry if this is wrong post to ask this question

To do what specifically?
If it's for the fix, it doesn't matter, if it's for a backup, it doesn't matter

OK so do we officially have CWM working including data now? If so do I just have to install this fix over my existing CWM or do I need something new? Can we get a new thread dedicated to it? Piecing things together from all the scattered posts& threads is difficult. Thanx in advance

By the way I'm running 5.0.2.7 beta 2 and original ROM& firmware

Just to clarify, you have to apply the patch and then make a backup so that the "fix" is part of your most recent backup. Just installing the patch isn't enough. If you restore a backup made before the patch was applied, you will effectively remove the patch as your phone will be restored to a pre-patched state. So you only want to restore backups that already contain the patch. (if you can help it) If you know how to edit nandroid backups, you could add the modified ext4check.sh to /system/bin. But it's much easier to simply make another backup than try to apply the patch to your existing nandroid backups.
