Root [Boost Mobile] Security risks?

I was reading through the forum today, and stumbled upon this article.

While I realize this is for a different phone than our Warps, I was wondering... does anyone know if the Warp came with this "RescueStarter" installed? I used ROM Toolbox to view the init.rc, on my phone and I didn't see any references to the software, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Also, what of CarrierIQ? Is this something we Warp users have to worry about as well?

We don't have carrier IQ on our phones, and with the RescueStarter i wouldn't have anything to worry about, My thoughts is that it is there so if you have a problem with your phone they can fix it remotely. You don't have to worry about anything.

No CarrierIQ? Good to know! I've never seen anything saying yes or no when I looked into it before... where perchance did you find the info?

As for the RescueStarter, yes, I am sure you're correct about Boost's intent when installing it, however I agree with the person in the other link - Boost should've given us some way to opt out of this program. I do PC repair work, and I have the ability to do remote access with my customers as well, but I always let them know the program is there, and that its presence does not automatically mean I can access their computer any time I want, they have to run the program to let me in to help them. I believe Boost should've done this with us as well, not just install something that will cut down on our battery life and provide a possible vulnerability without us having any say in the matter. It's not so much a matter of having anything to hide, it's just that (optimization freak that I am) I can't stand something not running at a substandard, inefficient level when I know it could be done better. Ehh... call me OCD lol

Well the battery drainage is so minimal your talking saving a second maybe per cycle. And I don't know the credibility of them being able to access data anytime either. I believe you must make a call to them as a sign of approval to access your phone. If the government wanted to find you they could hook up your phones ip and gps and track you every second, so with boost its not a problem to me. I do understand your point though, but no phone is intractable to companies and governments. Sad news ik

Edit: ok I exaggerated, more accurately your talking about 10 Min per charge. Which is only a small portion.
