Root [Boost Mobile] Stuck on Boot animation. Please help =(

FrancisJ

Newbie
ok i recently rooted my warp. everything went great so i decided to change the boot animation. i bought a program called Boot Animation Changer and went ahead to change animation. after that i restarted my phone but it would not boot. it stays frozen on boot animation. i have tried booting to recovering and wiping everything but nothing seems to be working. Im new to rooting and such but is it possible to reload a stock os from an sd card? like u can with a computer's recovery cd

you can restore from a backup if you have cwm, those backups are called nandroids and you can find some stock ones on the forum here:

http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/490541-nandroids-zte-warp-gb-2-versions.html

the condition your phone is in is called a bootloop fyi, bummer but at least it's recoverable...

You might try flashing a theme from zip in cwm first before restoring from a nandroid backup, that might get you past whatever you are stuck on, sounds like the tool you used doesn't play nice with our phone. There are a couple themes on the root thread.

Thanks for quick reply! I used zte update tool n it seems to be working now. sucks i lost everything. was there anything specific i did wrong? i kinda dont wanna give up on rooting. or did i just used a made boot animation. if so how i know what to use? the program said my device was supported though. or was this just a fluke that doesnt usually happpen when you change boot animation o.o?

Making a nandroid backup in cwm is the first thing you should do. Don't use any programs to load boot animations, none of them work. If you want to change it make sure it is a 480x800 animation. Get root explorer, go to /system/media, change the original bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak, then copy the new one there. I have a stock theme with a stock animation here:

Place that on your sd, if something goes wrong, just go into cwm and install zip from sd, select newstock.zip, oh and install cwm if you haven't yet, its a lifesaver
