Root [Boost Mobile] Tri-Band S3 (SPH-L710T)

Ok like i asked before i read the op says if radio gets borked flash the file provided. Does this mean after you flashed some roms and they didnt work, then after you restore your backup and its borked then flash radio to fix? Or if you flash a rom and it boots and your unknown so then flash the sig fix and your good to go?Im dying to know and try.

not sure i understand.....the stock tar.md5 will bring your phone to a complete factory shipped phone
for the event that your phone says baseband/imei all unknown...the tar.md5 will fix

i believe the radio.img file will only fix an issue where you have no signal after flashing a new rom..
i could be wrong about the radio.img ....im not a dev

I know post sounds weird.I flashed a few Roms Some were fine but some the baseband said unknown. For example I flashed cm lollipop build the ROM booted up fine but I had no signal. I did flash correct APN fix.I wanted to try flashing the nf4 Sig fix but didn't know if it would brick.That's why I ask hoping someone might know or tried.
The stock tar yes I'm good phone is back to stock now I'm looking for the unknown help.

i know there is alot of posts and alot of them are unnecesary and can be deleted... i think we need to start a group message and get a few how toos with the links and erase the rest

Yes we need to compile just the post that contribute directly to rooting, flashing and troubleshooting. That way we can start an everything root thread to the new subforum.
 
Oh my other concern is about leaving this in the boost mobile section when there are lots of us on sprint prepaid and virgin mobile. The phone appears identical at this point but leaving it in boost will cause confusion.

Agreed sub forum for each just in case something is a little different on each carrier.
 
I see good things for this model of the gs3 it needs its own forum plus for peeps to see so they don't get into the trouble I did.That T does make a difference.

SOMETHING ISNT WORKING...ASK FOR HELP AND IF YOU DONT GET AN

ANSWER DOESNT MEAN THAT YOUR BEING IGNORED IT JUST MEANS

NO ONE HERE HAS THE ANSWER!



INSTALLING CUSTOM RECOVERY
​

  1. DOWNLOAD PHILZ RECOVERY (CLICK HERE)
  2. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL ODIN (CLICK HERE)
  3. PULL BATTERY FROM PHONE
  4. PUT BATTERY BACK IN PRESS AND HOLD VOLUME DOWN+HOME+POWER...THEN ONCE THE WARNING POPS UP PRESS VOLUME UP TO CONTINUE TO DOWNLOAD MODE
  5. ONCE IN DOWNLOAD MODE SET THE PHONE DOWN AND GO TO PC AND LOAD ODIN...ONCE LOADED SELCECT PDA/AP DEPENDING ON ODIN VERS. GIVE IT A COUPLE SECONDS TO CHECK THE MD5 THEN PLUG YOUR PHONE IN TO THE USB AND MAKE SURE THE ONLY BOXES CHECKED ARE AP/PDA F.RESET AND AUTO-REBOOT THEN CLICK START WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH


ROOTING​


  1. REBOOT INTO RECOVERY BY PRESSING AND HOLDING UP+HOME+POWER THEN THE SCREEN WILL FLASH,LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON,WHILE STILL HOLDING VOLUME+HOME THEN YOU WILL SEE A BLUE GUY LET GO OF THE REST OF THE BUTTONS

  2. NAVIGATE WITH THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN HIGHLIGHT PHILZ SETTINGS THEN PRESS THE POWER KEY TO MAKE UR SELECTION

  3. THEN NAVIGATE TO RE-ROOT SYSTEM AND PRESS THE POWER KEY

  4. THEN PRESS THE BACK SOFT KEY AND THEN SELECT REBOOT SYSTEM

  5. ONCE SYSTEM REBOOTS GO TO PLAY STORE AND INSTALL CHAINFIRES SuperSU AND ROOT CHECKER

  6. REBOOT AFTER IT INSTALLS JUST BECAUSE

  7. AFTER RESTART RUN ROOT CHECKER TO VERIFY ROOT!!!!!!




WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!??

WELL INCASE YOU DID NOT READ THE GUIDE ALL THE WAY THOUGH AND FLASHED A ROM THAT BROKE EVERYTHING!!! IF YOU CAN GET INTO DOWNLOAD MODE THEN THERE IS STILL HOPE



  1. DOWNLOAD THE STOCK TAR.MD5 (CLICK HERE)

  2. START ODIN

  3. PUT PHONE IN DOWNLOAD MODE

  4. LOAD THE TAR.MD5 IN THE PDA/AP BOX

  5. BE SURE ONLY F.RESET AUTO REBOOT AND AP/PDA ARE CHECKED

  6. PLUG THE PHONE IN TO THE USB BE SURE YOUR CONNECTED AND SELECT START

  7. ONCE FINISHED YOUR PHONE IS AS IT JUST CAME OUT THE BOX


IF YOU REALLY MESS IT UP WHERE IT WONT EVEN LOAD!!

CHANCES ARE THE BOOTLOADER GOT DAMAGED

HERE IS HOW TO FIX THAT


ONLY USE THIS METHOD IF YOU CANT BOOT TO RECOVERY OR DOWNLOAD MODE

  1. DOWNLOAD MY BACK UP.BIN (CLICK HERE)

  2. DOWNLOAD DISKMANAGER (CLICK HERE)

  3. Use your computer to pull the data already on the card onto your computer hard drive, as the sdcard will be wiped when the image is put onto it

  4. Run win32diskimager

  5. browse for your extracted debrick image

  6. Select your microSD in the dropdown box

  7. Click write

  8. remove the microSD card from the reader

  9. remove the battery and put the sdcard you just made in the phone

  10. restart while plugged into a wall charger

  11. reboot into Download mode either via adb or Volume Down + Home + Power

  12. Once the device is booted into bootloader remove the microSD card.

  13. install your stock firmware with odin

  14. enjoy

METHOD I USED:
ENTER INTO DOWNLOAD MODE and flash the latest Philz recovery .tar in PDA SLOT. UNCHECK EVERYTHING.....
When you get the PASS go ahead and pull the battery. Now ENTER INTO RECOVERY MODE. Go to Philz options and choose re-root system/install supersu. Cant remember exact word for word. I first downloaded the newest Philz Recovery .zip and flash it thru recovery. DONT FORGET TO REBOOT INTO RECOVERY AFTERWARDS! Philz is the greatest.
Now you can reboot phone normally. Go to play store and download SuperSU and Busybox and run both of them. (You might wanna grab root checker also) Now if you have any problems getting root I uploaded the SuperSU.zip from chainfire and flash it in recovery. REBOOT AND PROFIT.
With that being said it was so much easier then any other root i have done. No i didnt flash any fancy rom. My phone is now rooted and has custom recovery but its still the orginal rom. It was a piece of cake. I had 0 problems. I also prefer the stock rom. No radio or modem problems. I only achieved Philz Recovery and got it rooted.
Once you reboot and run SuperSU it will load the binary files needed. Philz Recovery will basically do all the work or just download the SuperSU.zip from chainfire and flash it thru recovery. It was that easy. I hope this helps/clears up any bad thoughts on this new SPH-L710T model. I even attached the UPDATED-SUPERSU.ZIP that i used. ENJOY
