Root [Boost Mobile] Wifi Issue Fix?

Thanks goes out to downthemachine for his recent post regarding "free usb tethering". I found this while using his method.

From your desktop long press and select shortcuts>activities>settings>scroll to IP Settings and select. On your desktop there will be shortcut that says IP settings select that and then select Wi-Fi sleep policy. It is defaulted to "when screen turns off" change it to "never" then click menu and select "save".

I woke up this morning and my wifi was working. I hope this provides a permanent fix for us.

I changed it right after a fresh flash of nOOb V. Mine was defaulted before the flash and after. Both times running nOOb . It is weird. Hope this is a fix because I am only on wifi now.

default is when screen is turned off, that's on purpose to save battery, staying connected to wifi all the time when you aren't using it drains your battery and keeps your phone warm, not great for the longevity of your phone.

I find it annoying though if I am using pandora, but in pandora you can set it so the screen doesn't sleep, which keeps wifi on so no issue there. the only other time it bugs me is if I am downloading something large, in that case I would go to settings/wifi/advanced and toggle it to never turn off, otherwise default works for me, I have decent 3g at my house though

MrBoBo my old pal, i've never doubted you before, and for the most part your correct. Yet i recently did some testing ( now this may be because my phone is totally different...) but, being able to leave wifi connected all night long lets say, vs regular 3g....saved me about 40% battery. I do have very good 3g signal here...Issue is though, something about this gingerbread 2.3.7 that wifi policy doesn't stick, I have to modify files to stop the sprint connection manager from disabling it. (Again just my thoughts, i havent had my warp working in a while so I can't test it on there, but on this new phone, wifi on > 3g on = much better battery life.)

EDIT: Could be actually because being on sprint now/ and the ability to have call/data networks @ same time. ( although turning on wifi disbles data ) ..may definitely factor in to the battery life issue.

This fixed my problem of wifi disconnecting and still showing a wifi signal. Yes my wifi is on all the time no and it "stays" on like it should. When I do not need it I simply turn wifi off like normal to save battery. All kernals and roms have done this. I have had my warp since February.
