Root [Boost Mobile] WiFi Tether vs. USB Tether

I was wondering if any one knows a way to make the WiFi tether on this device perform better. I have extremely slow speeds using the internet using WiFi Tether as compared to USB tether. I am currently on the Warp OEM Rom (love it BTW).:D

I tried the 3G tweak of zeroing the Gateway Ip and Proxy server stuff, changed PRL's and all that. My speeds for 3G are good, with USB tethering using PDAnet also but not wifi hotspot. I just tested with USB tether and has speeds of 1.2....changed over to wifi hotspot and barely get .3....WHAAA??

USB Tether is a wired direct connection. = Faster. :D

Wi-Fi Hotspot is data into the phone,
back out of phone to computer. = Slower, :(

Would a "Radio" change make any difference in anyone's opinion? This Warp is my fall-back phone, I've had to fall-back a few times, and its always been great. Its cheap but with the OC kernel and Cool Roms that incorporate stuff like WiFi Hotspot it keeps up with a lot of the modern phones ( KICKS OLDER IPHONE'S ASS ). I'm wondering if hardware is the issue here because to my understanding using wifi is suppose to give you better band width for better connection speed than usb tether. Anyone that knows for sure please respond.

There is no alternative radio for the warp (s-off). and changing the radio wouldn't do anything for wifi. I have never had a faster connection with wifi vs usb tethering. Where did you hear wifi has a wider band width for data connection?

That would currently defy the laws of physics considering that when transmitting a signal via airwaves more data/power/signal is lost due to the lack of efficiency of receiving (it just "floats" away in laymen terms without a direct path). Currently the best transmitter is a simple copper wire.

I got that info from a tech guy that flashes phones for a living. What you said is basically what I thought but he disagreed and said something about a direct connection is a confined/constricted bandwidth and wifi is not. I don't know, thats why I ask so I appreciate your input. With that said, it must be a hardware issue, such as a weak signal transmitter for the wifi.

My best results have been on usb tether, Phone is plugged in directly, when the screen sleeps your using less processing power, ahd charging the phone at the same time.

I hear you. The reason why it's faster is simply because it's confined/restricted. Imagine a spray of water from a shower or sprinkler. You are thirsty. What is the best way to get water in your mouth? To restrict or confine the particles in one consolidated space and stream directly to your mouth from a hose or glass than a non confined spray or wave of particles going all over the place in an inefficient manner.

Your tech guy is a horrible armchair physicist lol. You better hope he doesn't get any silly ideas of his own when fooling with your phone.

Excellent presentation of the data being delivered!! :D
Or, water for that matter. :)

How are you? Doing better I hope!!:D
