Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

Hey I have a quick question can I change my baseband if I'm noxed up I'm on mk5 right now ?

Yes, any modem/baseband is fair play-MG2, MD7, MK5, and all the Sprint ones as well, like MK3. I find personally that MG2 and MK5 work really well; MK3, not so much so. Remember, modem/baseband has literally nothing to do with bootloader, even though they use the same letter/number designations. Knox only cares about being replaced with another bootloader.

Thanks buddy I can always count on you with the right info :D

Something Wicked this way comes. LOL had to.

Newest version of Wicked Sensations is running like a champ. Kind of digging the purple set up too. :D:D

UPDATE

ADDED STRUCKN'S THREAD "Official Carbon KitKat Nightlies Are Here!!" TO THE "AOSP, CyanogenMod, and AOKP ROMs" SECTION. :D

EDIT:

@HiiiPowers Bro, I have no idea on earth how I missed it but I already had the link to the 4G Fix added to this thread and in the AOSP section. LMAO!!!! I went ahead and removed it since I added it to the top area of the thread last night. Hopefully more people will be able to see it now since it's up at the top part of the AOSP section.
:dontknow:

Good news. Tried 4g out in carbon...... works like a dream..... And best of all, toggle works without reboot.

Use the 4g fix zip posted on page 1, flash it via recovery like any regular recovery zip and then reboot.
Once rebooted do the following to toggle 4g/lte on and off

4g/lte on:
Turn off or toggle off data
Turn on or toggle on lte
Turn on or toggle data on again
Enjoy 4g.

4g/lte off (3g only):
Turn off or toggle off data
Turn off or toggle off lte
Turn on or toggle data on again
Now only 3g is enabled.

To make the toggling process easier I'd recommend adding the toggle to the quicktoggles list in the notification dropdown area via settings > carbon fibres > statusbar > swipe over to quick settings, then go down to tiles and layout and add lte (and of course anything else you want to add or delete)

Hope this helps someone.

I would love to try carbon, but asop ROMs do not look noob friendly. Tw, on the other hand, seem to be plug and play. Everything seems to work right out of the box. Luckily wicked and m.o.a.r. gives me that ROM rush that we all enjoy. :p
I am curious to what all this buzz is about on asop ROMs. I know if I do try, wetbiker7 has compiled some great resources and the rest of you guys offer great wisdom and guidance. Maybe one day.

AOSP 1: is not really any hard to learn than TW is, it's a matter of just flashing, asking questions, and getting into it......I wouldn't let it overwhelm you really. 2: The reason people like aosp is the simplicity of it, it's what all roms/mods are built from, its vanilla android and yes this includes TW as well, just fyi :). When I say simplistic, it doesn't have all the fancy visuals or stuff that TW does IE: "touchwiz". Other ones are Sense (htc) Sony and lg have their twist on things as well, but underlying of it all aosp aka: vanilla android is where it all begins.

Just like ANYthing else, eating, riding a bike, driving, etc...etc... it's a matter of learning what does what and where things are so you can set them.

I have learned SO freekin much from thsi forums and xda....more this forums, simply because xda seems a bit stand offish or click-ish to me, so I rarely ask in xda, but I always ask here, this forums tends to have a more open, and noob friendly atmosphere. I've learned from people like Codegerm and SelfElevated2 in the s2 forums, and here in the s3 forums wetbiker7 and struckn and smith058 and HiiiPowers and jdsingle76 as well as myself, all seem to be pretty active. I have also talked to the maker of touchedbyS4 rom g_ding84 and he's taught me a lot as well.

All it takes is questions and of coarse looking, make sure you look if possible, as hard as it can be at times to sift through all the threads :).

I'm not a dev by any stretch but I have learned enough to delv into some other things to adjust things like I want to, stuff like removing unwanted apk files within the roms such as apollo, and DSP manager which I replace with my own stuff later once installed, stuff like decompileing an apk, adding an icon of MY choice rather than the one that came with the apk file.

CM is also a AOSP rom as well, that is well known.

To experience aosp is install a rom based off it, carbon would be MY rom of choice, but they have many out there.

I'm sure there will always be a learning part of anything so it never stops, just gets a bit easier is all as you pick things up. If you look I posted about web makeing a video if he modified the case for this phone, so that'll be another "learning" process.

Give it a shot it's not as bad as you'd think, and if all else fails, just go back to moar.....I swap back and forth almost every other week it seems to moar and cm and aosp, yes yes I'm a flashaholic, it's a hobby with me :)

A nandroid is your friend in this situation. :D

Make a backup, try out something new, and if you don't like it simply restore the backup. Its like you never even flashed the other ROM

Lol no problem man I knew it was posted at least 8 times which still confuses me how people ask how do I get 4g on asop lol

Asop isn't really noob friendly but to get data all you have to do is flash the zip in the first page

For mms it's also posted in the first page you just won't get any mms until you switch to cdma only

From that point on its fully functional don't let a few extra steps determine if you want to try something new as said by reaper if you don't like it go back to tw asop isn't everyone's cup of tea

I've been holding off for bugs to be fixed before rolling with an AOSP based ROM, but I'm really ready to drop TW... Carbon looks sweet! But AOSB just dropped too! It also looks incredible!

[ROM][4.4.2] [JAN-30][UNOFFICIAL] AOSB Project [v1.2.7] [HALO][MultiWindow] >>[D2spr] - xda-developers

Now, the big question... out of all the 4.4 ROMs, which is the most stable, which is most feature filled, fastest? I know I'm gonna flash em all... But I sure would like to hear the goods on the most popular ROMs

AOSB looks interesting....I'm gonna give it a whirl tomorrow and see how it works out.

Noticed it had a dual app panel thing, I kinda like that. Didn't think they had that in aosp roms, thoought it was only a TW thing.

Yeah, I just downloaded - looks sweet. I'm gonna flash in the am. :D The split screen/multi app feature is really useful... once you start using it you don't know how you got by without it! I'm curious how the modified stock kernel is going to perform too...

AOSB was a definite no go for me....reboots randomly, lockups on certain settings, namely the navbar setting, so gonna try the latest nightly of carbon again see what happens.
Aosb was cool for the parts that worked, but a bit to buggy for me right now.

Update:
I guess xposed gravity KK mod is messing with this rom somehow with the nav bars :(.......kinda disappointing too, cause nav bars will NOT go away unless somone knows a way to get them hidden or to go away.

I really love gravity, but I also love this rom, so it's kinda a toss up now....do I use gravity or the rom

I'm gonna flash it in a minute. So far I don't see any real issues in the XDA thread... maybe ask about the compatibility over there with gravity...

Also be sure to use the correct version of gravity:
[APP][KK][XPOSED] GravityBox v2.9.4 - tweak box for Android 4.4 [25/01/2014] - xda-developers

In the thread it warns of use with custom roms... read thoroughly.

Well I can definately varify it's gravity and/or the rom conflicting. I uninstall gravity and it goes away, so somehow the rom and gravity aren't playing well together. I posted a message on xda, but no resolve.

I love gravity as a whole and would rather use 1 mod as apposed to multiples, but the only real reason I use gravity is for the lockscreen options:
-use ANY widget
-use as many widgets as you want
-maximize widgets

All these options I absolutely love, and other than gravity have not found any other mod to do this, except the maximize widgets.....the other 2 I haven't found a mod to do this.

I hope it gets worked out, because I love gravity and miss my lockscreen options.

The issue is that Gravity has to load all it's mods on boot to have them be able to change on the fly... and custom roms already have many of these mods - so it's not just one conflict, but many...

I would imagine it would work much better with Slim or Vanilla...

This is going to be the first AOSP based rom I flash on the S3. Am I right in thinking all I have to do is remove asserts and possibly re-enter the correct APN info?

Just remove assert lines, that's all I ever do.

Never bothered with the APN lines, because on the main page there is already an apn zip flashable file, unless you really want to add them in :).

I know the apn fix works for me, I've used it multiple times on many aosp/cm rom. It's called 4g fix if I recall right.

True, but so far this is the only thing that's giving me issues, the rest works fine.

Ok quick update:

Found a work around for the nav bars....just in case anyones interested.
Workaround is as follows:
Under gravity in "Navigation bar tweaks" tick enable Navigation bar, tick always on bottom, then scroll down the very bottom and slide the sliders to 0% on all 3. Reboot and bingo, no nav bars.

So for now this is the work around until the dev gets it worked out or fixed.
