Boot Animation (Virgin Mobile)

Ganesh420

Lurker
Hesitant to start a new thread, but I wasn't finding any real solutions just digging through the forums. I really like my N9810 from Virgin Mobile, but I cannot stand the loud, obnoxious boot animation.
I'm rooted (via Cydia Impactor, super easy), SU and busybox both seem to be working. I've tried the boot animation changers on the Play market, but they don't work/don't do anything. I did see mention of someone trying to just manually change the boot animation files, but he said it bricked or soft-bricked his phone.
Has anyone found a reliable way to be rid of this awful VM boot animation/sound? If so, could you please point me to the relevant post or post your solution here?
Sorry if this has already been tackled and I just missed it...the ZTE vital section isn't well organized yet. THANKS!

*edit* Okay. I finally found the post explaining how to turn off the boot animation. Is there a way to replace it with something else without risking issues to my phone?

*edit again* Found the file locations from this post: http://androidforums.com/vital-all-things-root/806097-helpful-pointers-apps-our-phone.html
Specifically:
How to disable Boot sound
I really hate the super annoying boot sound on our phone, I’m sure you feel the same. All you have to do is add .bak to the sound file. The file is located in
system>etc and the file name is Bootsound_virgin.ogg, rename to Bootsound_virgin.ogg.bak then restart phone.
I then found the video file in similar location and plugged that location into this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.boot.animations

Huzzah! Silent boot animation of your choosing. So far, phone boots just fine. Hope this makes it easier for someone else!
