Root Boot Animation

Is anyone else having trouble changing they're boot animation? I can't get mine to stick. I have removed the original boot animations and placed mine in the system/media folder. But even after reboot the Boost mobile animation still plays.

Is the a bootloader problem, because it's locked?

I imagine that's why it's called a "locked " bootloader. Not being funny but I imagine we have to wait until a unlock method is discovered before booting any custom images

The bootloader actually being locked has nothing to do with the bootanimations. I came from a Kyocera Event. It had a locked bootloader and I was still able to change the boot animation through the same way.

Then I wish you luck

Everyone in this forum keeps saying you can't do anything unless the bootloader is unlocked, I see a lot of phones though that still get custom recovery and Roms without an unlocked bootloader.

works for some, doesnt work for all. as far as boot animations i read pixel density is a big factor in which boot animation you can flash. also the method that works for one manufacturer might not work for another. ive seen it myself as well but ive heard a lot of those tools wont work due to patches implemented by 4.4.2. Im no authority or anything. just what ive read

Then that is probably why we can't change the bootanimations. My Kyocera event was on 4.0.3

Hey there,

Not sure if you've figured it out yet, but you need to change the bootanimation.zip in

/carrier/cust/poweron/

Trying to do this, DOES REQUIRE ROOT.

I can verify, 100% that this does work.

If you need more help, feel free to reply.

Best of luck,
Chris

ive seen people get in a boot loop before by messing with the boot animations where the gif just continously loops imma hold off until our restore method works i reached out to someone for some help and we should be able to flash back to stock once he posts how to do it

I was poking around in the file system and found the boot animations directory. Surprisingly, I found that there were several files for various carriers. I have flashed the tot file from the DL mode restore thread, so I don't know if stock systems have these. Found it interesting and thought I'd share. :)

Yes, those files are on my phone too...I've rooted, but I haven't deleted anything...

the stock system comes with those files. located in ::::system-media::::. you can delete them because the main files for the boot animations are located on
:::: carrier-cuts-poweron/poweroff ::: thats where the main bootanimations files are. to change just delete the file in carrier. pretty straight forward.
