Boot Animations Galore :smokingsomb:

Click here <-- right there to the left

Just to let you know this zip file is 1.24GB [ I believe there is 300 or so animations ] so be on WIFI before you start or it will take forever.

Some of these were made for tablets or bigger phones

TO INSTALL: Which ever one you decide you want to use, Just RENAME it to: bootanimation.zip and place it in the /system/media directory of your phone. Then REBOOT.

These pix are just because. LOL

Correction, the bootanimation.zip has to be placed in system/media to work properly...

Technically either of the 2 places will work. If you put one in system/media and one in data/local. The one in data/local will work and the one in system/media will not. So it sounds to me that data/local over powers system/media. Try it out if you don't believe me.

Dude data/local is not the place to put the bootanimation.zip, trust me I've already been that route, the correct place to put it is in system/media, only mentioned it so you could change the incorrect info on your OP...

I have changed the OP to state system/media. But seriously try leaving your boot animation in system/media and dropping another one into data/local and reboot. Then come back and tell me that the one in data/local was the one that displayed.:smokingsomb:

To clear things up if you want a permanent boot ani you place it in system/media...

NOTE:
You will overwrite your current bootani unless you rename it .old or whatever you want to name it

IF you want a temporary bootani W/out overwriting your current bootani then you place it in data/local

Either way your bootani will work w/no issues ...

This is exactly what happens why I just tried it. The one in data/local played. I prefer placing it in system/media though to conserve on space. There's really no need to have 2 boot animations on the phone.

the /data/ directory is for user stuff and the /system directory is for the OS software and "built-in" apps etc. if you download and install anything from the app store it goes to /data/apps/ unless altered by a "2 sd card" method etc. when you are playing around with system apps like sideloading different things you want to put that in the /system/apps/ folder. so with that said, i'd assume that the /data/local/ folder is for when the user wants to change the boot animation but the system/media/ folder is for "embedding" the animation into the OS. with that said, they both would work but it comes down to a matter of preference. whereas in some cases, you have to load an app in its repsective directory (i.e.APW app won't run in /system/apps/) sorry to use the apps for example if it made it confusing since this thread is about the animations. XD
