Boot animations

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been asked already, I've searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.

Basically, I'm struggling big time with getting my bout animation changed. I've tried the market apps, no joy. Also tried manually by going down the /system/media route, still no joy.

I'm model xwki8 and have recently flashed hell Kat 1.25, in another attempt at getting the animation changed.

Could anybody help?

Thanks

Adam

Firstly you need to be rooted, and be using a kernel that supports boot animation.
Eg. Siyah, NEAK.
Then all you need to do is place your boot animation file (bootanimation.zip) into /system/media and ensure it has rwxrwxrwx permissions.

If this still does not work, then you may have an existing "stubborn" boot animation. If so, check that you do not have a bootanimation.zip file in /data/local. If you have then delete the little bugger.

Hi ive just put this boot animation on my rooted Samsung Galaxy 2
Samsung Galaxy S2 Boot animation (with Download link) - YouTube
very funny and works like a dream, thanks to buckeyo for it..
Instructions very clear:
For install, download zip file..... :D

http://www.sendspace.com/file/81094p

Root your Samsung first (need to look on-line for that).

Then get an app like "root explorer" (any file/root Manager App).

go to /system/media and delete the bootanimation.zip file.

Then move (push) the "bootanimation.zip" you downloaded from above to directory /system/media...

Then restart...

All Done..

Does flashing stock firmware or doing a factory reset restore the original boot image? Is there a way to save factory boot image in case the phone needs warranty work?

Flashing stock firmware will essentially get it back to an "out of the box" state providing you do a factory reset too. However, for a true stock reset you would need to flash carrier specific firmware. Flashing different firmware will change the boot animation if it had been done to do so.

All a factory reset does is wipe your data off the phone. It does nothing to the apps on the system, or affect the version of firmware you're using.

However, just changing the boot animation back to stock will do nothing to suggest to suppliers that you have standard firmware on your handset. There is far more to it than just the boot animation.
