Root Boot Animations

I haven't seen this yet on here yet so I thought I would start one. As always try this at your own risk.

To put a new boot animation on your phone(not the flashable version. The raw zip file.):

1. Download a root capable file explorer from Play Store.

2. Download a EVO V or EVO 3d bootanimation of your choice.

2. Enable root access in file explorer.

3. Navigate to system/customize/resources/

4. Backup SPC_bootanimation to sdcard. Somewhere safe(just incase you want to restore the default one later.)

5. Delete SPC_bootanimation from the resources folder.

6. Move your new boot animation to the resources folder.

7. Rename the new boot animation in the resources folder to SPC_bootanimation

I have not attempted the flashable versions of boot animations yet. Let me know if this works for you. The file structure is for stock rom with root access. Usually customized roms have thier boot animations in system/media/

If you find or make boot animations please post them in this thread to share.

Here is a link to the boot animation I am currently using

[Bootanimation & Splash] Bootstep *Black Shapes* v.1.0 Flashable - xda-developers

I used the file under non-flashable zips called bootanimation.

It was created by binux-project on xda.

Do you know which file is the splashscreen? I want change mine to the black HTC version:

[Boot Animation][Splash]True Evo 3D Sense 4.0(One-X replaced) black[UPDATED] - xda-developers

I like this. Using it now.

You download whichever boot animation. Go to system>customization>resources, scroll down to SPC_bootanimation, rename it or delete, rename the boot animation you downloaded to SPC_bootanimation.zip and place in that folder (mount r/w) then fix permissions to rw-r--r--.

I know the boot animation part, I want to change the splashscreen.

There's another file in there called htc_bootanimation.zip. Now I don't know what it is for sure, but I can make an educated guess. Haven't tried it though.

I tried changing that but it didn't work for me.

***EDIT***
I pulled the hTC_bootanimation.zip and noticed that the zip file is made up of .png files. The file that I was trying to use are .jpg files. :(

also, many custom roms the boot animation is in system/media/ and it is named bootanimation.zip This is where it is on the Harmonia 3.0.5 rom made by leslieanne.

where's the location for the boot animation's sound? I *really* want to get rid of it

/system/customize/resource/BoltAnimations.mp3

Delete or rename that file to get rid of the sound. The actual animation will stay though, unless you delete the .zip file too.

It seems like there is a way that the boot animation sound is being found somehow by the boot animation by something if the mp3 is external (outside the boot animation zip file) and it doesn't play the sound if you change the boot animation. Interesting.. I'll look into that later. Might be in the desc file or something.
