Finally made the move and rooted! Cheated and used one of the one click jobs. No matter with recovery I flash, when I reboot, it goes to the stock one. What do I need to do? Thanks
BTW, a 1 click tool is not cheating and dont let anyone make you think so. we all use and need tools made by others to help us root - period. 1 click tools are the way it should be. IMHO, thee is no valor in time wasted rooting the long way when a 1 or 2 click root option can get you there.

Rename /system/recovery-from-boot.p to /system/recovery-from-boot.p.disabled (with RootExplorer)
IMHO this a bug in ROM Manager and you will see it fixed eventually. There is a new feature in the official "Google Froyo" that they don't handle.
Astro wasnt didnt have "permission" to change the file name so I used Android Mate (Free) and it asked for SU Perm. and was able to change it.
