If anything, you will just lose the current bootanimation or it will stay the same.

Boot animations are universal, as long as you get the path to the boot animation correct. /system/media is the most often used amongst most phones.
Granite the screen resolutions vary, but that doesn't mean you can't use the boot animation, it will just look like its too big/small for the screen.

Exactly, that boot animation was made for HDPI devices that have larger screens, but it still works on our MDPI Optimus V's. The only way to get it to fit perfectly to our screens, would be to change the resolution of all of the .png's, to fit our phones.

I could do that easily.....not worth my time though cause I dislike that bootanimation

which is why i wanted to get rid of it from the start, and why i flashed the CM9 boot onto the AOKP rom in the first place, prior to editing it to match the rest of my theme choices.
