Root Bootloader 30.04 Err:a5,70,70,00,1F

I recently installed the OTA .621 on my rooted Droid X. I lost the root and tried to SBF back bricking my phone. I understand that if I can get my hands on the full version SBf of .621 I can at least get my phone running again. Does anyone have the full version SBF?

I managed to brick my phone by updating to .621, not realizing it, and trying to go back to an older SBF. Why? Because I'm an idiot.

I attempted to reflash back to .621 but it kept failing, giving me the exact error OP has.

Turns out, I needed to get in and format the phone (deleting cache). Oddly enough, it let me do this even though the bootloader was FUBAR.

I then tried again using the .621 SBF and it worked.

For reference, I'm using RSD Lite 4.8 on Windows 2003. It refuses to work on Windows 7 and even XP for me for some reason, so I do all this on my local web server which is running 2003.

I keep this up and I might actually get good at this... lol

ok, well i got 1FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.4-4.5.1_57_DX8-51-120111-test-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf to work but it wont activate because its verizon and im on alltel... tried SHADO_X6_3.1.39_SHADOW_BP_C_02.06.00R_AP_BP_Flex_20_signed_secure_alltel_1ff_P3_USERBLD.sbf but it dont work, just gives me the bootloader error and wont go any further.. any suggestions?

Maybe you'll find better info over at XDA. The Milestone section here doesn't seem to be very active.

I'd start with this thread:
[HOW-TO] Get your Milestone back to stock - xda-developers

This forum seems to be active/current:

hey guys, i'm having the same issue as OP but i wasn't able to fix it the way OP did.

My phone bootlooped and gave me the same error

Bootloader
30.04
Err: A5,70,70,00,00,1F

MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
Battery OK
OK to program
Connect USB
Data Cable

So i flashed the TBH Happy Holiday file on it, then it I tried to flash the 621 file on top afterwards. When i Flash the 621 file at the very end it says fail and then gives me

Bootloader 30.04
Code Corrupt

What am I doing wrong? i'm using RSD 5.0

thanks

EDIT: nvm, fixed by reloading the 621 over and over and over again.
thanks

i have the same problem. i updated to 621 and tried to root and everyone says u cant. well you can. i did it with a linux crack. then a week later it started bootlooping and now its stuck in bootloader with the same error. but when i did the root it made my droid x a milestone x. ive tried everything to fix it and cant make it work. if u fixed urs can you walk me through how you did it please?

You need to reflash .621, and wipe data and cache in recovery if it bootloops. When it's done, you'll have to root via the same process.

Colchiro,
Good to see you here as well as the Touchpad forums.
I have a Droid X that a friend needs help with.
Since I rooted and rommed my Touchpad and Evo 4G, he evidently thinks I'm good at this or something.

Anyway,
I have the same error as the OP,
except that the battery is "Low"
and then it says Unable to Program.

As I type this, it may even be too low to display anything.

Are my only options to find an external charger or someone else with a Droid X to charge the battery?

Thanks,
PAFisher

Hi PA. :D

Verizon may charge it for you, otherwise there's a way to charge with a usb cable stripped to bare wires, but that has ruined some batteries & phones, so I don't recommend it.

Verizon, coworker/friend or buy a charger/battery online.

I took the phone back to him to tell him that he needed to go buy a new battery or an external charger and he actually already had a "new" battery which was at about half charge.

Popped it in, and followed the instructions from the SBF tutorial and it is waiting for the activation. Amazing when things work like they are supposed to.

Thanks for all the help that you provide.

I'll bet I've got the 621 OTA update too, given the exact same bootloader errors I see here.

I'm a noob, but have been working with Coolpoete on the DX2 (Once-Click Root) forum, as I was mistaken on the phone I had.

I've been confused, but now know I have a dx1 (red camera button is a dead giveaway!).

I am still confused about the versions. When the phone account was still active (the dx1 was a free gift, but it was deactivated when my friend got her new phone) I checked the version info under settings menu, and it was 2.3.4. It was definitely NOT 2.3.5, and there was a message that an update was available which I did not accept.

Am I correct that 2.3.4 is gingerbread, but there are many releases of it (602, 605, 621)?

I never saw a way to find that info on the phone.

Like ericdawson1971 I too have tried a zillion combos with the same bootloader error. Unlike ericdawson1971 I want a rooted phone. If mine was already OTA with a 621 I guess I'll have to wait.

Seems really odd there's no way to reverse whatever the 621 does that prohibits downgrades (or perhaps its just that nobody has yet figured out how). There must be some special area of the flash or protection scheme that hasn't been figured out yet.

The bummer is that as time marches on fewer people are interested in spending the time to reverse engineer these hurdles vzw puts in our way.

I also don't plan on activating the phone; I am only going to use it at wifi hotspots. Might get a skype account and use it as a phone that way (thru wifi), but it would be more useful if it were rooted.

PS - Guess I need to change my user name to DroidManX1 now!

I found this thread to be very helpful, thanks to the OP, Colchiro, and some tips picked up by others.

I knew that I was at OTA .621 before I even tried downgrading my firmware so that I could root. What I didn't know (what the wiki didn't mention) was that you can't go back after OTA .621. The wiki didn't even mention that you can't charge the battery while in the bootloader. Thank gawd my wife has the same phone!!

So, for other's having the same prob, rather than having to hop from link to link in and out of these forums, here's the short of it:

Still wanting to root, I tried the simple 602 SBF. No go.

Ultimately, I surrendered to 621 SBF. I walked away while it was loading. Came back to a fully functional phone. Whew! For a while there I thought I was gonna own a brick!

Again, huge thanks to Colchiro and others involved in this thread.

I just wish I could root so that I can install CM7. So tired of VZW's bloatware. Have had great success with CM7 on my Nook Color. If someone knows the trick, please post a tip here or PM me.

Thanks! :-)

hi bro how are u
i cant resurect my droidX help me please
i have rsd 5.4.4 and sbf 621
but now after flash, motorola red logo appears on the screen and it stays and fails to start
:( what i have to do?

thanks

It really does sound like you are on .621, as there are multiple people who bricked their X's across the boards when .621 came out and they attempted to SBF back to .602. You can successfully resurrect a bricked X if it was on .621 even if you tried to flash the .602 SBF by flashing the .621 SBF.

I will PM you the link to the applicable pages @Rootzwiki; I would try downloading the .602 SBF from my dropbox first and verify the MD5 sum (I use an MD5 on the .7z compressed file). Make sure you are on RSD 5.4.4 with the latest drivers and using your OEM USB cable. This will eliminate any possibility of other problems. Since you don't know if you have .605 or .621 I would do the .602 SBF (it is interchangeable, there is no .605 SBF). If you get the same mem_map error then it is most likely because you have received the .621. Only use the .621 SBF as a last resort. Once you are there, no turning back. But if we have confirmed you do not have further options, that would be last one you would want. The 25th is *right* around the day they started rolling out .621 nationally, so thats why I'm wondering. At this point anybody can pull the OTA and I believe its live in all regions.

P.S. RSD Lite is tricky as well, mine never shows my phone when I hit "Show Device" it hasn't populated device info since a 4.x version. However, I have never had a problem updating. Just make sure you have the line down in the bottom of RSD, let it process and make sure it gets to "Rebooting Phone" if you get past the bootloader then you are good and then you will probably need to enter stock recovery and wipe data, and it'll boot. If you are still in bootloader with the mem_map error after it gives a successful SBF and gets to "Rebooting Phone" then most likely you are on .621

Finally, as cochiro said, careful with your batteries. If you don't have an external charger it can't charge in the phone while in bootloader, so make sure you're pulling it when not in use.

if no errors on bootloader or rsd lite, try wiping data
if that does not work, try ezSBF 621
DX (MB810) ezSBF & Root 2.3.4/4.5.621

to wipe data
pull battery, hold home button, insert battery, press power, when you see red m logo, release power, when you see !, triangle, and andy, release home button, press both volume buttons to enter recover, use voume down to scroll to wipe data, use power button to select
