Root Bootloader and Root

Hey everyone, I am very interested in picking up this tablet because of its specs and price point. I might want to play around with mods and stuff after I get it however. Does anyone know rather or not this has an unlocked bootloader and if we will be able to root it? Thanks.

Saw lots of root kits for other devices just wondering if there is one for this one?

Root is possible if you didn't install the update that was available shortly after you first received the tablet. More information can be found here at XDA.

I installed the update, crap. No root for me until someone finds another exploit.

I did end up getting it and I did update... oh will figure crossed for the same treatment they gave the 200. Or they will find another exploit. i understand now these things take time.

I bought my pad yesterday and got and took the update the first 5 minutes after logging into my wifi... found out i could not root with the update so 2 hours ago i went back to frys and exchaged it... got home, followed instructions for root and for rootkeeper. And about 15 minutes after wifi connection i received the ota update, took a deep breath and accepted it, ran rootkeeper again... all worked flawlessly.

Now i need to find out if/how to get this thing to duel boot.

Ps... this root method should have a dedicated thread! People need to know not to take the update if they want root

If we can get Ubuntu running on these, it will be perfect.

Have you tried this app that installs Ubuntu? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.linuxonandroid

I used it on my LG Spectrum and got Ubuntu to install. Pretty cool, but not really necessary on a phone... could be wicked on a tablet, though.
