Root Bootloader Code Corrupt Error

First thing it's fixed so this isn't a problem anymore but here's what I ran into last night and how I fixed it.

Been doing a lot of flashing lately and just wanted to get my sbf experience back to feeling comfortable since some people at work love my X and want to start putting Roms on. I have the latest .340 full sbf and pulled up rsd lite which I've used before, got to the bootloader and started the flash, got all the way to the end and failed. No biggie, it's happened before.

Had to reboot, but it came back to bootloader right away and said Code Corrupt and the rest of the bootloader screen. Yikes! Tried one more time and same result, even though the bootloader said that, rsd found it and would start to flash etc.

Looked around and tried some things that deal with Win7 64bit and the first few options did not work. Info from Gregtard's post stickied in All Things Root.

Ok so going further down I see this part:

Here are step by step instructions:
  • Go to the folder where you installed RSD Lite
  • Delete any files that start with "FlashErrorLog"
  • Right click on "SDL.exe" and click "Run As Administrator"
  • Move your recovery file to the root C:\ directory
  • Rename the recovery file to something short, like "r.sbf", so that you will have space left for the filename to overwrite the junk characters
  • Try flashing the file with RSD Lite - it will most likely fail, don't worry (if it works then good job, you are lucky )
  • In the RSD Lite folder, open the newly created FlashErrorLog... file
  • Count the number of junk characters after the real filename - for example if you have this error:

Code:
ERROR: \\?\c:\r.sbfqaw
