Root Bootloader options and Volume-Up + Power

I just rooted my phone and was checking out Recovery mode to see what all is in there. Have a few noob questions that I hope someone is willing to answer.

First, in the HBOOT menu, what is "Image CRC"?

Second, if I have the Fast Boot option enabled, and I try to boot into Recovery by holding the Volume-down and power, the phone just boots normally; it doesn't go into Recovery. Is that how it's supposed to work? Fast Boot must be disabled in order to boot into Recovery?

Lastly, while playing with this I wondered if Volume-Up + Power does anything. So I tried it and the phone vibrated 3 times and the orange LED started blinking. The screen stayed off and pressing any of the buttons didn't do anything. I had to pull the battery to get it to power up again. What exactly happened there? Is there some purpose for this? Did my phone not launch something that it was supposed to?

Thanks for any input.

I can only answer your second question. Yes the fast boot must be disabled to boot into recovery.

I'm kinda curious what that Power + Vol Up is, if it actually does anything.

Think of the fast boot option in sense like hibernate mode, doesn't really turn the phone off just hibernate. That's why you can't boot into Hboot with fast boot enabled in sense.

Regarding the vol up + power I've been told by some HTC phone owners its some srt of debugging thing. What you described when pressing vol up + power happens on other HTC phones as well.

Regarding Img CRC its some sort of verifying tool I believe. Maybe to check to make sure no partions are corrupted and such. Just basing that off of actually running it sometime back.
