Root Bootloop after rooting

Penninx

Lurker
I've got a branded HTC Desire from o2. With the following specs:

Software: 2.14.207.1
Radio: 5.09.05.30_2
HBOOT 0.93.0001

I want to unroot my phone, I've done the following:

- first I tried to boot another RUU, I wanted to downgrade to android 2.1
- but then I got the Error140 and Error 131
- so I made a goldcard with the goldcardtool 0.0.5
- and installed RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811

Then the Desire works just fine with the new software.

Then I've run Unrevoked 3.21 and installed ClockworkMOd Recovery, that went OK. Then in the ClockworkMod Recovery menu I did a backup from the menu backup and restore. That went ok. After that I turned off my phone.

Next morning I turned on my phone, see the green HTC logo on the white screen, this lasts something like 30 seconds, and then, black screen, vibration, and again the green HTC logo. And now it's in a infinite boot loop.

The phone doesn't react on any button, so power and volume - doesn't work. I've tried to install an RUU but then it says an error170 couldn't find usb. Unrevoked 3 doesn't also recognize my phone via usb. Anybody knows how to deal with this?

Boot into recovery (hold vol down key as you press power button - you may have to pull the battery first) and then restore the backup you made.

Apparently its a common bug after rooting with unrevoked. Should be the only time it ever happens

Thank you, it worked now. I forgot that I've already a problem with my phone. And that is it automatically start when the battery is placed. Therefore I have to press volume down and then place the battery that's it.

There is something with the power button. In android 2.2 my phone couldn't get in standby with the power button. So that one of the reasons I want a dedicated rom, for example with Miui you can change the use of the power button, so you put your phone on with for example the optical button

Cool!

That's one of the things I like about the LeeDroid rom I use. Trackball to switch on and a second press to unlock. If nothing else it protects against hardware button failures.

Have fun finding a rom to play with.

Heheheh! The only reason I knew the solution was it coming up in one of your threads Dan and being put in your FAQ.

So your efforts did work, they just weren't as direct as you hoped :D
