So, i know that people are just going to tell me to look at the forums about how to get out of a bootloop, but i already know how to do that. The problem is, is that when i press the search button on the triangle screen, i cant get to factory reset, because my "down" volume key is broken. Is there ANY way to get out of this bootloop that im in? Ive looked every where, and no one seems to have the same problem as me. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

Fix the volume down key. There is a video on taking the X apart, the button is a simple short when pressed, so you can either replace the button, switch, or short it with a screwdriver when needed, just depends on what is broken.
Could you post a video/explain what you mean by "using a screwdriver to short it"? Im not sure what you mean, and it could potentially help me out a lot. Also, i would try to replace it, but there is a solder that attaches it to the circuit board, and the solder spot is so small i needed a magnifying glass to see it, so i cant really do that, unless there is something else that i am missing.

Sounds like you already have the droid apart or the button and switch is gone.
If you stare straight into the button area, there should be little silver, gold or green lines leading up the the solder bumps. There should be two (bumps) at the outline of where the switch was (if it is gone).
If the switch is gone, find a slot screwdriver that is just wide enough to touch both solder bumps but not anything else. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE.
If the switch is still there, then you need to fashion a piece of wire or use an unfolded paperclip - shaped like a U so you can short those two solder bumps. This is essentially what the actual switch does.
Short those two bumps (and release) when you need to 'press' the button.

Okay, i will be sure to try this, but even if it does work, i will be without a volume button... Is there any way to fix this? Any alternates to soldering the the tiny wire back to the tiny solder point?
I just tried to do the screwdriver/paperclip thing, and it didnt work. Even if it did, i couldnt do anything about it because without the shell on it, i cant use the camera button to select.
The camera button on the shell just presses the center of the metal switch down, so you can do the same thing with a ball point pen.
With the down volume button, can you get a clear picture of what it looks like? I will have a better idea what you are facing.
If you can get the ROM working, any competent electronics tech will be able to fix your button issue (baring severe damage to the PCB traces - the little lines).

Well i mean, if i could get the volume button fixed, i could get the phone out of bootloop easily. But we dont really have any repair shops around here, and im sure it would cost a ton. As for the picture, id be happy to upload one, but how do i do that?
What I was implying was that it is not worth repairing the volume button only to realize the phone is permabricked. So it would be wiser to fix the boot loop first, then repair the button. The buttons can be operational as long as the PC Board is not damaged, you just have short it manually. And the camera button can be pressed down with a pen or other pointy object.

Yes im in the Tri-State area. Hopefully theses pictures can help, but it was pretty hard to take them, as it is so small, so if you need more, let me know.
What happened to the switch? It's gone, but the solder bumps seem undamaged... looks like a poor soldering job.
Anyway, there are 3 bumps there, you can try shorting all 3 or just one of the outside bumps with the middle, you should be able to do it with a screwdriver. If the camera switch is still good, just use a pen tip to push down on the little black button.
I'm in 10601... if its close enough, you can certainly bring a beer by and we can try to sbf the thing.

So i did figure out how to short the button, which let me fix my phone. Even though i am without a volume key, i downloaded a handy volume control widget. This will tide me over until September when its upgrade time. Thanks so much for the help!
