right, made my gold card - Success
Ran unrevoked - Success.
created an Nandroid backup - Success
now following the nandroid backup my desire jsut keeps rebooted?

I've read that restoring the nandroid cures the loop, so its restoring as we speak.
Please tell me this is a normal occurance - cos I'm sh|tting myself!

Yes after the first nandroid backup, if you root with unrevoked - it can cause a boot loop.

Restoring tha backup you have just taken should fix the issue and it shouldnt occur agaain.

restore complete, phone booted and now working again - Phewwee

In a way I am glad this happened as it has reminded me about the issue.

I have added to the rooting FAQ, under the nandroid section.

Glad you're sorted.

Cool, pleased I can help out ;)
Am I now "safe" to flash a ROM now that I have my nandroid backup.
(going to install Titanium and aps backup now)

Still deciding on the ROM, prob going for the teppic rom, only thing putting me off this one is that it says it includes a radio, which I'd rather not flash.
The defrost looks good too - does this include a radio?

No radio. No sense either.. its fast though

I mention radio as its my duty but there's a lot of stigma attached. As long as you don't do something silly, it will be fine.

The second version - init.d enabled - does not include a radio. This one is much more flexible for further tweaking/modding/theming.
