Root Bootloop

I am running Scott's Clean Rom 4.5. The ROM has run great for more than a month. Earlier today the phone rebooted on its own while I was at my desk and as I looked at the screen it said "updating android". Since that time the phone has been very unstable. As soon as I get past the unlock screen the ROM reboots. I have the phone sitting in the dock for now. It shows neither 3g nor 4glte, but does show 5 bars. I am S-on.

I have read through several threads, and it looks like I might need to flash the gingerbread patch.

I am noob enough to not know how to get the phone to stop rebooting and get to where I can flash the patch. Am I headed in the right direction or am I missing something?

if the rom has been good for a month,the firmware is not your prollem. that issue presents itself immediately.

it sounds like your phone possibly tried to update. if youre running a stock recovery,you can try the "factory reset" in hboot and see if that clears things up.

otherwise,you can do a factory reset from within your custom recovery and see if the bootloop stops. if not,either restore a backup,or flash a different rom.

it may help to have more info for further diagnosis. what is your hboot? what is your current software version build number?

Thanks for the tips, the phone "just started working" no idea how or why. The bootloop stopped and the phone settled down while on the dock. No idea why the phone would update unless ICS is due.
