Help **Bootlooping Network Problem FIX INSIDE**

MOD Edit: Shortened instructions provided by trophynuts

I posted this on XDA right now because I just ran into this error, but here's my entire post, with the fix included, for anyone who when they just reset their phone, it began to bootloop (or load up to sense for 1 second, then reset itself every single time with the battery cover on):

i had no problems. NONE.

i decided to do a fresh restart of my phone so i poewred it down, and did a battery pull after the phone was completely off. turned it back on, gets to lock screen, i unlock......sits..loading...screen goes black, and whattya know, white HTC splash screen. a few times. it's *** **** bootlooping FOR NO REASON. this is just absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

i think it lasted longer without the cover on the back, meaning theres something up with the network....i remember reading about this, it bootlooped with the back cover ON...anyone remember hearing that too?

EDIT* this WORKED! anyone who has this issue please do the following: (source http://www.droidforums.net/forum/htc...boot-loop.html)

STEP 1: TAKE BACK COVER OFF. it will load into sense and not reboot now.

*#*#4636#*#* Under phone info you will find that the network is factory set to WCDMA Preferred... I guess the SIM card decides sometime along the way that it doesn't like that much... Setting the network to CDMA EVDO/LTE - Auto completely corrects the problem

another poster said that after you do this, hit home, power down the phone, pull sim card out, put it back in, then reset it. i didn't do this; i just went back, put the battery cover on, it froze like usual, reset itself, and now it's working perfectly. holy hell this g*d d*mn phone just gave me a heart attack!

for some reason, this is what happens: under phone info, as it says, it will reset to WCDMA Preferred for NO reason whatsoever! this must have happened when i shut my phone down; other people are reporting that doing "reboot" does this frequently for them! this is the first time in my month of ownership i saw this happen, so this was new to me...but thankfully, we have a fix!

Thank you so much for this!!!

My phone died last night, went to turn it on today, and it went into this endless bootup loop. I had never seen this before, so needless to say, I was freaking out.

I followed these steps and it worked perfectly...in fact, even better than before! The phone boots up much faster than it ever did before!

I have had my Rezound for a little over a month without having the issue of bootlooping, until last night. The solution given worked to a tee. Thanks.

Got my Rezound on December 29th, never had an issue. Woke up yesterday to the bootloop. Only thing I had done differently was turning the phone completely off before connecting the charger and going to bed. Turned it on while still plugged in and got the loop. Since I noticed the phone worked fine without the SIM card, I took it to a Verizon corporate store, stumped them and they simply replaced the SIM card and OF COURSE factory reset. Bastards. Works fine now. Oddly, after they tried to sell me the half-price extended battery, the manager and associate seemed amazed when I told them that my battery lasted me all day with moderate use, CDMA only. Thanks OP for the info...

had mine since black friday w/ no issues. this morning wake up, realize the phone died during the night, plugged it in, turned it on, and bam. bootloop.
i'm wondering if restarting it yesterday twice had something to do with it....

the extended battery sale... cor store or auth retailer? where are you located? i may need to go to the vzw store today...

edit- did the suggested fix, took out batt/sim/sd card, put batt and back cover on and did fix, and noticed in the options for network mine was set to WCDMA, and had the dozen or so options including GSM, Global and etc. set to lte/cdma/edvo and it worked, also booted a hell of a lot faster

Has there been an upgrade that may have fixed this issue?

I'll be getting my Rezound in a few days, would it be best to go into this network menu and set it to "lte/cdma/edvo" right from the start as soon as I get it?

Just happened to my phone again. Stock phone with no issues other than this. I might stop in at the Verizon Store and see if they might replace the card.

I am now working on my 5th boot loop.

did it yesterday and doing it again today.

starting to get really annoying.

I seem to get the bootloop 2x a month - near the first of the month, and near the middle (or maybe it's near everytime they have network issues). I'm still wondering what is causing this, it's like they do a network reset and boot my damn phone off. Really annoying that every morning I have to watch it boot to make sure it doesn't reboot continuously and eat my battery before I even get to work.

It's not resulting from a battery drain that shuts the phone off. Not related to changing settings - I just turn it off at night, and it loops in the am. I don't get it.

So is Verizon working on a fix for this? I have had mine set to CDMA only for the past two days, and it happened to me this morning. My area does not have 4G yet, so i see no need to have it on, yet.

You people are truly brilliant! I had the bootloop issue and this worked great for me.

Note: it's *#*#4636#*#*. The * must be first or you won't be able to access that menu.

I had a moment of panic when I turned the phone back on after performing those steps, but there was no signal and it said that I needed a SIM card. Turns out I had my SIM card in backwards! Doh!

yeah i have to edit that, when the mod merged that guys post into mine, it was bad information. editing now.

My sister just called me and when she explained what was happening to her Rezound I found this sticky. I walked her thru the fix and she's up and running again. Thanks!

Googled and found this forum. THANK YOU!!!
I haven't been able to use my phone since yesterday around 5pm & I was angry! lol.
This worked. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just an update guys, since im never around here (on xda most often), but ever since upgrading to the newest leaked firmware and running ICS, i haven't had this issue.

perhaps it's finally fixed?

perhaps just a cocidence but when I went thru airport security last week, after the phone came out of the xray machine, it was in boot loop mode. It's been thru before and didnt happen.

I had a problem with my GPS not working last week. I attempted to fix this by uninstalled a cached area in G Maps, then I uninstalled all updates to G Maps. Bootloop ensued.

It would happen so quick that I could not get into the dialer to do the fix before it would reboot. So despite not having done a back up recently, I had to do a factory reset from HBoot. Never again, so I finally rooted last night.

Sooooo my phone started doing this again and it won't stay on the dialer long enough for me to put in the code and reboots itself before I can complete it. This fix worked for me when it happened the first time, now what the hell is going on? My battery completely died before this happened and I have it on the charger trying to do this. It's been on the charger long enough to probably have a 30% charge at least.
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
