Boston bombings; post-arrest non-political discussion

MoodyBlues

Compassion is cool!
Watching the news right now and trying to get up to speed on what's happened. They're showing coverage from Watertown, MA. It looks like the two suspects are brothers, and one was killed in a gunfight with police. The other is essentially cornered [in the area] and arrest may be imminent.

Their father says "someone framed them." That must explain why their PICTURES were so clear at the marathon site...

Let's keep this non-political, okay? I think that's appropriate for this thread, too.

FBI confirms that the oldest of the two brothers is deceased

FBI — UNKNOWN SUSPECT #1

Idk if you can believe the quotes from the father yet, cause in watching the news today at noon, they said two similar things about two different relatives.. They first said that their father is in russia mourning the loss and unaware of all the evidence against his sons, and then not even 30 minutes later they said it was their uncle that was in russia and was outraged about what had happened with his nephews.

But from what I have heard, the family would likely think that they had to be framed. From what everyone who knew the two brothers have said about them. I still haven't heard a bad thing other than of course the bombing. These two have been in the US as citizens since the early 00s and participated in school activities and sports.

Thats why I want the white hat suspect to be caught alive, so we can know why they did this after 10 years of showing no signs of this kind of behaviour.

watching live news now...they are saying that the police are going to do a "controlled explosion" where they think the suspect may be hiding!...

I've been watching it live most of the day today.

Older brother shot & killed last night. Younger brother got away with some reports he drove the vehicle over his older brother. Also sustect 2 is reported to have been injured in the shootout, with blood being found in places during this manhunt.

Family has made comments, but watching it live its been very clear reporters are having a hard time understanding and following what they are saying at times.

Suspect 2 had quite a bit of twitter action in the days after the bombing, and some of its kind of disturbing

Suspect 2 became a us citizen just last year on sept 11, suspect 1 had a green card

They just interviewed an Aunt who is also saying she thinks it is a mistake and they didn't do it..??ugh...the whole thing is just......sad

One the one hand, I find it spectacular that video technology has advanced to the point that we can yank two hitherto-unknown suspects out of thin air.

On the other hand, I now find myself trying to look very innocuous when I walk down the street.

I don't know about you guys but I'm glad he's alive rather then shot dead. Now he can live the rest of his life behind bars like the animal he is. Shooting him is the easy way out.

I understand the point you're making, and I agree, but I take exception to the animal analogy. Animals don't belong behind bars. I'd rather refer to scum like this guy as a monster, but definitely don't insult animals by comparing him to them. :)
