Bought an HTC Desire - can't make any call

Hi,

I just bought an HTC Desire from a streed vendor. He said the phone used to be on vodaphone monthly contract. The phone was lost/stolen and sim blocked by Vodaphone.

Now when I try to use my T-mobile (sim monthly contract) in Desire, it shows the network but when making any calls, no call is made. It shows 'call ended'.

Does anyone know why this happens? (Have I made a mistake by purchasing this phone?)

Does this need to be unlocked?

Thanks

Carriers have the option of blocking calls made from a stolen phone, regardless of the SIM that's being used. Yes, it sounds like you made a very bad mistake.

the phone is blacklisted as it was reported lost / stolen.
if your in the uk then you can not use the phone on any uk network ever again.

you've been robbed.

Plus you risk your account being blocked, and a visit from the police for buying known stolen goods
