Help Brand New Captivate! A few questions

Hey guys and girls,

Not only is this my first captivate, but it's my first Android phone. I'm having a couple of issues:

I have wifi at my house. I'm posting from my laptop using it now. My phone seems to connect to it properly, but nothing that requires data actually works. It shows that it's connected, but it doesn't seem to actually be connected. Any insight?

Also, my school email account is ran through windows live. I can't seem to get this email to connect through the mail app on the home screen. How about this?

1) Use the free app "Network Info II". Click on the Wifi tab. Are you getting full TCP/IP settings via DHCP?

2) Try the K-9 email app. You will also need to get the IMAP/SMTP settings from your school's IT department. Only use POP if your phone will be the only place you'll be checking your email from.
