Brick bug worries... advice please...

Hey people,
Loving the forum, but first time Ive had reason to post.

Ok I have a Galazy S2 GT i9100 on 4.0.4 XWLPT. My phone has the insane chip so is suseptible to the brick bug.

I want to get to Biftor 8.2 safely. So from all my research I think I have to install the

Siyah v5 kernel or such like to make my phone brick safe. then install the ROM i want. Is this correct?

Also if I do the kernel install is it then safe to wipe the cache etc in recovery without issue?

Any help would be well recieved.

Thanks

Just a couple of things...

1. The brick bug only applies to the stock, un-rooted, kernels.

2. To flash custom ROM's such as Biftor, you must first root your phone which entails installing a new anti brick bug kernel as per posts #1, #2 and #3 of the Rooting Galaxy S2 - Dummies Guide.

All the custom kernels for the SGSII, that I can think of, contain the anti brick bug feature. These include... Siyah, Dorimanx, CF-Root, Jeboo and PhilZ.

Once you are rooted and have made the necessary backups, you can set about installing your custom ROM by carefully following the developers installation instructions.

thanks for the help. Im now rooted... all good.

Just wondering anyone can recommend a rom which incorporates the following

DSP sound inprovement
Nature UX
Pie control

Or which gets closest to what im after.

Thanks again
