Root Bricked Bionic. Flash keeps failing.

Hi,

I have a bricked bionic. It was running .902 and I was trying to root it last night and it failed halfway through. Now, everytime I try to flash it back to stock, RSD Lite fails. I've had it fail at 1/22, 2/22, 5/22, 17/22, and 21/22. Not sure if any of those steps are significant in any way, but I figured I'd post them just in case. I've already made sure my drivers were updated, RSD Lite is running on 5.6, and I'm using a USB port in the back of my computer. Does anyone have ANY idea why it keeps failing and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Also, (it's important now cause my battery is dead) if anyone knows how to charge a phone while it's bricked (besides ghetto charging or taking it to the Verizon store) PLEASE let me know.

I was trying it on Windows XP Media Center. I also have a macbook pro. Not sure how to flash on it though or if it'd be better than my windows comp.

If your battery is dead search for " How to make Motorola Factory Cable" or their is a way you can still charge your battery with bricked phone pull out battery put it back in(make sure phone doesn't come on) hold volume up & down then plug it into wall charger, i can be wrong but google it or search in youtube. If you find the fix for the phone please let me know, so i can fix mine too. I hope that helps. :D Thanks :D

once you get your battery charged try rsd again. It can be a pain in the a$$ sometimes. When it fails it sometimes gets the file changed on your phone before it actually failed that is why you are seeing a progression of where it fails at different steps in the process. You can also try the bionic path saver posted by Jeffery which also should work.

Well, soldering and messing around with cables probably isn't the best option for me. I don't really wanna risk buying a cable then stripping it all apart and then realizing I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. And I tried holding the volume buttons and plugging it in. Didn't work :( Do either of you have any really easy steps to follow to make the factory cable? Cause the whole write up on it is still confusing. I feel like it'd be a lot simpler if he just went step by step.

about to head to radioshack to see if they have a battery only charger and if not, I'll be looking for a mini to micro adapter to do all this shit myself. Little bit worried. Cause I don't really know what the ffff I'm doing but after reading it again, I should pick it up and figure it out fairly easily. Thanks again!

You can just cut the micro usb end off of any extra usb cable if you have one and expose the wires, there will be a red and black. Strip back just a little bit. Take your battery out of the phone and look at where the terminals are you should see a + and - symbol (they are on either side of the 4 slots). Stick the black into the - and the red into the +. Tape them down. Plug the usb side into your wall charger and leave it alone for no more than 30 mins. There is no regulating the charging this way and the battery can get fried if you leave it to long. Un plug the usb from the wall charger, disconnect the hacked cables and stick it back in your phone. You should be good to go. While charging feel the battery from time to time if it gets to hot unplug it.

If you live in the tampa bay area I would also lend you a battery.

You could also buy a factory cable for $40 here.

Third-party chargers have caused all kinds of battery problems over the last six months. It is strongly recommended that you only use the Motorola cable and charger that came with the Bionic.

There was a Universal charger being sold by Verizon in the past that was causing battery problems.

People will tell you they have no problem with their third-party charger ... they are telling you the truth. The problem is you never know how good the one is that you will be getting.

Since charging at your Verizon store apparently can't happen ... have a friend put it in their Bionic and charge it for you?

Took it to the verizon store. The guy who helped me had no idea what was wrong with it and said that they'd send me a new one and it should be at my house tomorrow. He also said as long as there's no physical damage, I'll get the new one totally free. SO, now my question is, has anyone else done this, and if so, are they going to freak out or even realize that I tried to flash my phone? I don't want to have to pay retail for a new one lol.

Since they will not be able to boot it up and will have to reflash 5.9.902 I don't think they will even notice.

You can just cut micro usb cable end & strip small end of red & black cable, where red is +ve & black is -ve on battery. Connect to battery will charge battery. :D
