It seems he has a reverb that came out of the box with JB ( won't work with ICS due to a different screen and bootloader) anyways a stock JB backup should work fine

It sounds like your /data partition is corrupt.

You can format it through the storage menu in CWM
(Storage --> Format /data)

Also, make sure signature verification is turned OFF

When you choose 'Restore' click 'Advanced Restore' and just flash /data from any of the ROMs provided in this thread. If you don't get an error, then proceed with 'Advanced Restoring' your /system partition.

Boot loop. I have tried many things but can't fix it.

I did the exact thing to my reverb. Rooted with odin with cwm and went fine. Tried to make nandroid backup, had era with data and now stuck with Samsung logo. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
