Root Bricked. Need Help!

I installed CWM and Recovery to flash a custom ROM.

I wiped the data, and cache, and chose to install from SD card.

The update installs fine

Finding Update Package
Opening Update Package
Installing Update Package

Install from sdcard complete.

I hit back, and I get

E: Can't Mount /cache/recovery/ can't see the writing
E: Can't open /cache/recovery /can't see the writing
E: Can't Mount cache/recovery/can't see the writing
E: Can't open cache/recovery/ can't see the writing.

what do i do?

Booting just hangs now on the screen where it shows the phones model.

Restore a cwm backup that you made with cwm recovery 5.0.2.7 or 5.0.2.8 depending on which rom your trying to flash then wipe data and format system and flash your rom... title very misleading but you got my attention ;)

I did not make a backup, but I am installing a .tar with odin now to see if that works, and I have to disagree about the title, the title is very clear. I bricked, and needed help, but I think I figured it out.

It's a soft brick, it doesn't boot past logo.

Soft brick yes which is very easily recoverable. Wipe/format reflash and see what's up.

Rule of thumb, always always make a nand before flashing absolutely anything.

Do you have a pc to download any other rom?

well, I don't have CWM anymore now since I used odin.

I boot loop with Samsung...

I get a SCH-R720 with a Yellow Triangle.

and now the stock recovery menu looks like this

E: Can't mount /dev/stl14 ( invalid arugment )
E: Can't Mount /dev/stl13 ( invalid argument )
E:PATH:
E: Update logfile does not exist # MANUAL MODE #
E: Can't Mount /dev/stl14 ( Invalid Argument )
E: Can't open CACHE:log/recovery.log
E: Can't mount /dev/stl14 ( Invalid Argument )

Any ideas?

Did you try to restore backup option in the top of that thread?

I can't because when I installed the .tar from the link I provided, it wiped out the CWM recovery, and now I am only left with the stock recovery, and I get the errors I posted above. The stock recovery does not offer a backup, or restore option.

here's the recovery ... this is what you do...
download this CWM-RECOVERY
then go to mounts and storage while in recovery and hit mount usb
then put this recovery on your sdcard and flash it (install from zip) that should fix the messed up recovery

I can not access the phone to install CWM, the stock recovery does not offer a mounts and storage......

Ok

I did the odin again, and this time it boots.

but, I still have the yellow triangle with the ! inside of it. Not sure what that means.

Now, can someone please walk me through a custom flash with something for the admire that people are using that is awesome?

I don't mind if I need to wait, I can check back later.

the yellow triangle means its the kernel ... lol dont worry about that

to flash a custom rom of course you will need CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 or 5.0.2.8 ,,
depending on the rom .., its actually your choice to which rom you want to flash because i can tell you to flash this rom and you might not like it... so its your choice .. browse around and find rom to your liking .

make sure to make a backup before flashing a rom, (thats the #1 rule)
make sure to wipe data/factory reset
make sure to format system (mounts and storage)
and thats pretty much it, then you go to install zip from sdcard

How to put phone into download mode:

1) Unplug USB, remove battery
2) Re-insert battery
3) Hold down CAMERA button
4) Plug in USB
5) Wait 4 seconds (yellow text should pop up) then hit Volume up
You should now be in Download Mode.

Installing ClockworkMod:

Basic ODIN instructions:
1) open odin
2) put your phone into download mode and press Volume Up to continue.
3) connect the phone
4) ensure that you have a yellow com# box (see attached picture)
5) Select the ops file in the ops box (SCHR720.ops is in the zip with odin)
6) in the check boxes in the top left make sure one package and auto reboot are selected
7) in the bottom one package box select the desired tar (admire-cwm.tar that you downloaded)
8 ) click start! Your phone will reboot when finished and you can close out Odin.

Recovery mode for the Admire/Vitality:

1) Turn phone off.
2) Press and hold Back, Volume Down, and Power keys.
3) Continue holding all three keys until device powers on and recovery menu appears.

Navigate using volume up/down keys, and Home key for enter.

Yeah, I already know all of this, thanks.

It's just last time I did all that, I got the messages that I posted on my OP.

It's just last time I did all that, I got the messages that I posted on my OP.

the main reason why you had those messages is because of not restoring a cwm backup (from that recovery you were using) ... this is how it goes if you are coming from a rom which uses 5.0.2.8 recovery and want to switch to a rom using recovery 5.0.2.7 then you will need a cwm backup that you made with recovery 5.2.0.7 in order to wipe the device properly or else you will get errors or blah blah blahhh....

even if you install the rom with out it aborting (but still have the cant mount cache error) and if you reboot it will stay at the sammy sch-720 (which means it didnt wipe when you hit wipe data/factory etc
