Root Bricked Phone ?

hi guy i hope you can help,
I have htc desire hd and was doing something on my phone and then suddenly nothing, it stays on the white htc screen, can access the boot screen and it says there are images missing, if i go to recovery and then try to get it to apply updat from sd card it says invalid operation, i fear i may have screwed my phone up,
When i put usb in it makes a noise as if to say it connected but thats it nothing else,
the file i have been trying to get the phone to work on is PD98IMG.zip but nothing seems to work, i have changed sd cards and nothing,
One question i did want to ak as well is when it says root of the sd card does this mean just copying file on to sd card,
I need my phone asap as going away, so any help wold be much appreciated.

Could you let us know what you were doing when the phone just stopped working? Have you rooted your phone?

I bought the phone unlocked and it had still had orange software on it which was interfering with my vodhaphone, so i think i managed to root via hack ace, not sure if that right, and was in the process of then adding a vodpfone software via same progame, and thats when it stopped working,
i dont know if this will help at all
when i go to hboot screen this is what it says at the top

When you rooted using the Hack Kit, did you let it go all the way through? I ask as, from memory, normally you would expect to see "ACE PVT SHIP s-off..." not ship "s-on"
 
i could say yes but i can not rem for def, but im sure that when it went i was doing the vodfone upgrade when it went, the other thing i have noticed is that i can charge my phone with the usb via the plug, i dont know if this helps either sorry.
 
where abouts in the world are you? I think I know what you mean when you say the Vodafone thing you did was through the Hack Kit, but I am not sure if the Vodafone version is available for all parts of the world (I know that the Vodafone stuff in the UK is slightly different to the Vodafone stuff in the US, for example).
 
Im in the uk, when it went through the list there was a euro and then it showed which versions there were and i picked the uk version, it looked to have its thing then suddenly it went to reboot and that was that it stuck on the htc screen doing nothing, i left it for over a hour but still nothing happend
 
Does anybody know if any way that i may be able to get the phone up and running again or does it look like the phone is totlay stuffed? thanks
 
Hi i tried those files on the sd card again, well on 4 diffent but it all happens the same, as it seems to reqognise the usb is there something i can do via that, as when it goes to hboot is does show that the usb is connected.
Sorry for being pain but am away this weekend and need this phone if possible thanks
 
Hey there... sorry I never got back to you yesterday. I finished work not long after my last post and then went straight out last night.

I am just about to leave for work and will be in training all day today, so don't know how much I will be able to get in here to try and help you. I will see if there is anyone else who may be able to offer you some advice :)
 
basically what we need to do is:
1)run an ruu to get back to a working phone
2)reroot via the AAHK again

unfortunately,you are s-on,and prolly still carrier or htc CIDed,so we need to find the exact right RUU to get it working again.ive found a couple RUUs that match your radio,you appear to be on unbranded gingerbread.this one also contains your hboot,so its a pretty good shot this is the one youre on:

go ahead and start downloading,but some more info may help us.
first download this small file:
mini-adb.zip

-unzip it,and place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C drive(not inside a folder)

-open a cmd window(with win 7,click start bubble,type "command" or "cmd" in hte search box)

-now change to your mini-adb directory(assuming you didnt chagne the name). type in the black cmd window that opened on your PC:
cd c:\mini-adb

-now plug in your phone,power on into hboot,and select "fastboot" with the vol rocker/power button

-in your cmd window type:
fastboot devices

it should output your phones serial number. if so youre good to go. if not,youre apparently having a driver issue. i usually recomend these drivers from Revolutionary: modified htc drivers download and install the drivers(you should just have to run that file). afterwards,unplug your phone,plug it back in. make sure its in fastboot. as soon as you get a result from "fastboot devices" your ready to procede to the next step.

-in your cmd window,type(or copy/paste,is much easier):
fastboot getvar all

-copy the info that outputs here. right click in your cmd window,click mark,highlight it all in white. hit enter. paste the info here. it will help us know which ruu for you to run. :)

you dont really need to wait for us to say if its ok to run the file or not.if you want to,you can go ahead and try it,if your main version or CID is different,the operation will just fail,it will not do any firther damage. if you want to go ahead,just download the file i linked above(Shipped ROMs),wich is a utility and should have a .exe extension when you are done downloading. all you need to do is place your phone in fastboot like you did above(power on into hboot,and select "fastboot" with the vol rocker/power),then run the ,exe as administrator if your version of windows permits that.if not,just run it. follow the onscreen directions and plug the phone in when instructed. if the phone still charges when off,or you have an external battery charger,make sure the battery is close to 100% before starting.

hopefully that can get you back to a working phone,and then D-U-R-X can provide further assistance with the AAHK to get you rooted and super CIDed so you can run vodaphone software :)

That's what I was afraid of. That error prolly means the CID is incorrect.

As soon as I get home,ill look for another ruu... I'm on my phone at work,so I don't have any of my bookmarks.

Quick update, thanks again, but sadly the same thing, it gets as far a signiture and then does the same thing in that it says install correct rom,

hmm. after some reading,i believe that your main version is what it is because the ace hack kit chaged it to that,to allow a downgrade to rootable firmware.

rather than guess at ruus till we find one that matched you CID, i think we will go a slightly different route.

do you allready have a gold card?if not, you need to make one up. there are some directions here: HTC Desire: Updating To Froyo (Official OTA) For Network Branded Handsets | Mike Southby

do you have another android phone you can use to make the gold card? you will need to somehow need to get the SD cards CID,wich i havent been able to find a way to do yet,that doesnt require the use of a working phone.

if you can find another phone to use,use the app goldcard helper from market. if you use it skip right to the step of "Go to this page and enter this new number into the SD Card Serial (CID) field" and enter the output of the sdcard cid for mmc2 into the goldcard generator site.

once you have made your goldcard,your going to download the this hboot-flashable rom for the rootable 1.32.605.6 software and rename it "PD98IMG",and place it on the root of your goldcard.

if for some reason,you have troubles dwonloading,im uploading it now to androidfilehost,and can give you that link if you need it.

hopefully that will get you up and running,and on easily rootable firmware so you can s-off and superCID,since we donw know exactly what ruu to run.
