bricked s2

I attempted to root my phone yesterday, I used odin and flashed a rom from my sd card. Now my phone won't get past the initila start up screen of Samsung Galaxy i19100, it also displays a yellow warning triangle.

I have tried to re flash the rom back to stock, odin runs ans says it was completed fine but I am still unable to get past the initial start up screen.

Please help :)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums simpson1994! :)

Sorry to hear you are having problems... lets see if we can sort you out.

First and foremost, do not panic or become, "Flash Happy", you are NOT bricked if your phone turns on.

You could try this...

Should you encounter any problems with booting automatically at this stage, put your phone into Recovery mode by turning it off completely and then press and hold the following buttons... Volume Up + Home (centre hard key) + (lastly) Power. Continue to hold these buttons until your phone boots into the Recovery screen. See video. Then select, "wipe cache partition", and under, "Advanced", "wipe dalvik cache", and then, "Go back", and select, "reboot system now". Your phone should now boot up.

Failing that...

1. Could you please post a link to the instructions you used to try and root your phone as described above.

2. Can you confirm that your phone is a GT-i9100 model and no other variant.

3. Are you able to get your phone into Download mode... see post #2, here, for instructions on getting it into Download mode if you are unsure how to.

I have followed the instructions above, wiping the two cache's, when I selected re boot system now i still get the same startup screen however this time it freezes on the screen.

Here are the instructions I used to root my phone. How to Root Galaxy S2 I9100 on Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and Install CWM Recovery [GUIDE]. So i have also attempted to install CWG win along with rooting.

I realised I may not have had USB Debugging mode enabled, could this be the cause of my problems.

I am able to get into download mode, I have tried to flash an orginal stock ROM but I haven't had any look.

Thanks for your help

Was/is your firmware at the time of rooting, Jelly Bean, Android 4.1.2?

USB Debugging must be enabled to flash via Odin so I would say that you have it enabled.

You will need to flash a stock ROM now to sort your phone out.

1. Download this Samsung, stock, firmware for Jelly Bean, to your PC...

I9100XWLSN

2. Carefully and thoroughly read the step-by-step instructions in #1.7 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide which has a link to flashing the stock ROM.

3. Once you have flashed the stock ROM you will need to root your phone by carefully and thoroughly reading and following the step-by-step instructions and videos in posts #1 and #2 of the Rooting Galaxy S2 - Dummies Guide

I am not totally sure. I believe it was Android 4.1.2, I know for sure it's not the latest update.

Will the steps above still be valid if I was running android 4.1.2 ?

The Jeboo kernel you were using is firmware sensitive.

Just follow my previous instructions above to get you on the right track and rooted.

I have downloaded the stock ROM and flashed it using odin.

However my phone remains in download mode.

here are the messages odin gives me

I am afraid that I am at a loss to explain your inability to flash a stock firmware simpson1994.

Providing that you have a connection to Odin and the ID:COMM box turns yellow when connected to the phone in download mode, it should flash.

You could try using the later version of Odin, 3.07, to see if that helps.

I have tried the odin 3.07 and I have got a bit further. The phone now gets past the start up screen however when I try and set up the setting I get errors saying
"BadgeProvider has stopped working"
"android.process.acore has stopped".
and I get took back two previous screens. Is there any solution to this problem ?
