Root Bricked Samsung admire [Please Read & Help!]

Yea if ur phones bricked you can't even load into cwm so there's really no way to tell how or if the phone was rooted... so more likely if your phone is semi bricked and you just want a replacement .........

Download ROM MANAGER and install cwm and playing around and really brick that phone :D:D:D

Im sure samsung techs are not dumb, and if they're worth the money their making then they'll figure it out...

Just a reminder, when you format something, anything, its not truly gone. Ive accidentally formatted partitions on one of my external drives and recovered most of the file on my own, and Im no genius.:trytofly:

OoOOOor, when samsung gets it they'll know what you did and send you a nice bill for it. I did the same thing with my first lg optimus, and when they sent the phone in LGE's techs got ahold of it and I got a bill for well over the worth of the phone for cashing in on a warrenty that I willfully voided. Lesson? Just tell them the truth. I bricked my admire before I even came to these forums. The next day I went and bought a new one. It sux, but then again its a very affordable phone and you should have been prepared for the consequences before you decided to mess with it.

Ohhh and next time. read this:

i just got schooled D:

but i was still in the clear cause well i was under the 30 days return. I could return it for ANYTHING incase ANYTHING happened to the phone no matter what. But i guess if your going ot the regular yearly warrenty and MetroGuard youll be in a pickle.

But thats easy with the right program. Only way to make sure data is completely destroyed is to well , completely destroy it (ie Scratch the platter of a HD). But i still have to disagree. If this were a Sprint or Major phone carrier than i think they would honestly look into the issue. But this is MetroPCS we are talking about. Most of the phones we are getting are outdated and basically non usable but have been tweaked to hold an OS. Its just the devs who take that old broken bike frame, and slap a motor on to it some wheels and clean it up to turn it into something cool. :D

The Admire is neither outdated nor broken though. It was designed to be what it is. A mid-range smartphone. Its no galaxy but then again its no ascend though either. and I agree if your within a 30 day no questions asked warrenty then your fine, but still the point Im trying to make is to be careful. Dont mess with something you cant afford to replace. I know its tempting and fun, but if your 16 and you cant afford to replace it, and you dont know how to do a little research dont think you can just dl an app and pic a phone any phone. It should have thrown up red flags in the first place when you didnt see the admire on the list.

BTW I hard bricked my phone trying to manually root it with linux command line. I ****ed it up on my own though.

Lol.....bricked one with ROM manager once then payed 10.60$ to get a new one from metro...then on that phone i deleted the app labeled "dialer voicemail" hoping to get rid of my voicemail. Just ended up deleting the metro service and making my phone think it was stuck in a phone call after i rebooted it. Also had to pay 10.60$ to get a new one after that.

Lmao if you don't know what it is leave it alone.... A wise man once said, "Don't try to fix, what isn't broken".

Try factory reseting the device by holding the volume down, back, and power button then use the volume controls to navigate through it. If your phone won't turn on you might have to fix it at a cell phone repair if they allow rooted phones;)

As for them telling if you rooted your phone, in my opinion no they will not be able to tell. You see what they do in corporate it swap batteries thats about it. to see if it turns on and they try to charge it, when that happens they then go "eh its a dud" and they send you a referbished phone. So overall no they wouldnt be able to find out unless they have a super tech workers who open the phone look into the mother board and somehow recover what was there which that would be a heck no unless your a terrorist...are you o.0? anywho your in the clear, theyll be as stumped as you are and theyll just replace it. They already know their stuff thats under 200 is pretty much trash so they have no problem replacing it...in my opinion. Hope this helped :)

play nice with your local metro employees... as i have said in a couple posts, while not all metro employees are competent enough to do even the simplist task... some of us are and prolly are just willing to help a fellow "flash artist" lol. i cant tell you how many bricked phones i have sent back to samsung (and yes i knew they were bricked due to root issues). i myself work for metro pcs and are an avid flasher myself lol

This is unfortunately what happens when people rush into modding their phone before reading ALL the necessary threads. It has been said in this forum a bunch of times to NOT USE ROM MANAGER for the Samsung Admire as it will BRICK your phone.

There is a specific thread to get CWM on your Admire SAFELY [Odin] Clockworkmod Recovery - Not compatible with Rom Manager yet

But anyway. To the OP: have you tried to see if you can get your phone into download mode? Take the battery out, put it back in. Plug your USB cable into your computer (assuming the Samsung drivers are installed on this computer). Then, while holding down the camera button on your phone, plug the other end of the USB cable into your phone. Keep the camera button pressed until a yellow triangle screen with green letters pops up. Press the Volume UP key and you will be in Download mode.

From here you can follow the directions on the ODIN thread [ACS] THE ODIN THREAD: Return to stock
Hopefully this will help you without having to send the phone to Samsung. Good luck!

I hate to necro an old thread, but I just wanted to give big ups to you for posting this. The Google brought me here and you were able to raise my son's droid from the dead. :D Thanks again.
