Download and install official LG Mobile Support Tool from LG Site
http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe

Upgrade Recovery Method 1

1. Open your LG Mobile Support Tool
2. Connect phone to PC with USB Cable
3. Let the Support Tool discover your device
4. Let it connect to your device
5. Up top where it says "Options" click this and then click Upgrade Recovery
6. If it asks for it Input your IMEI from your phone or box into the S/N box and then click "check"

A box will pop up confirming your info. If all goes well a new window will pop up about downloading software. The file is about 800MB. Let it run it's course and you should be back up and running. This method recovers not just your firmware but also restores and leaves everything else in tact, however it will UnRoot your phone regardless of what was recovered.

Unbricking/Unrooting Method 2 (Alternative Method for Rooted Phones) If above option doesn't work.

1. Open your LG Mobile Support Tool
2. Open Root Explorer or another browser granted with SuperUser access
3. Go into System/ directory and mount it as R/W
4. Delete the build.prop file
5. Restart phone and wait for it to go to the black screen after LG logo
6. Leave the phone powered on and hook it to your PC via USB Cable
7. Let it discover your device
8. Let it connect to your device

It will search for an update and tell you it has found the "I" firmware.

9. Click Upgrade and let it do its thing.

If all goes well a new window will pop up about downloading software. The file is about 800MB. Let it run it's course and you should be back up and running with a factory fresh phone.

So I am putting this out to the F6 world, maybe this lil saving grace will help you feel a lil more comfortable in modding or playing with your phone, maybe even rooting it and getting your hands dirty.

Addendum:

I came across these today after posting these methods I discovered. For those who use recovery to flash your roms.

Bump, I revised, simplified and tested a new method.

I deleted my build.prop to test the new Upgrade Recovery method and restarted, I was soft bricked. I did the Upgrade Recovery Method 1 of what I posted above.. It brought everything back to the way it was before the soft brick, my entire collection of apps, data, games, files etc. etc.

The only difference was, my phone was no longer rooted and Link2SD wasn't able to create a mount script. I had to reroot it using Trevors method and recreate my mount scripts in Link2SD since it didn't have SuperUser access and reboot. Once rooted, relinked and rebooted everything worked as if nothing ever happened.

It seems the process just addresses issues/errors with the firmware, fixes them and touches nothing else. I think this method will also upgrade your phone from "E" firmware to "I" firmware during this process, if it wasn't done already.

I tried hooking my phone up to my pc without it being soft bricked and tried the Upgrade Recovery method. It did it's whole process again, phone rebooted. It left everything intact but my root. I had to reroot again. So it seems this Method will unroot your phone too.

Hooah!

(I hope this information is useful, not redundant, and posted in appropriate thread.)

I'm new to the world of rooting and really appreciate the wealth of information on this site. Being new, I've made mistakes and at one point couldn't hard reset my phone (neither from the Backup-related menu option nor by powering up the phone while pressing the Power and Volume Down keys). My phone repeatedly displayed the message, "Unfortunately Home has stopped." The message/problem seemed to prevent trying to make a fix directly on the phone and also was preventing a successful connection to my computer.

I learned that there is an Emergency Download mode for the L9 model and tried it--successfully--on my Optimus F6. It performed the hard reset. Since it saved me I figure posting this information might help others. Unfortunately, I'm not able to provide a greater context regarding the specific steps......nor how the results might vary for someone else and why. Still, it proved very valuable to me.

EMERGENCY DOWNLOAD MODE

1. Turn off the phone.

2. While pressing the Volume Up key, connect the phone to your computer's USB port. The phone should power up and display "Download Mode." Note: I connected to a Win7 computer.

3. Open LG Mobile Support Tool--it might be necessary to use the Run as Administrator option. The software opens and should indicate that it recognizes your phone. In my case, it also indicated that the most recent software was already installed but that didn't present a problem with this fix.

4. Click Options and then select "Upgrade Recovery." The software automatically downloaded a file and applied the hard reset. It took about a half hour.
