Help Brightness problem

my phone has KitKat 4.4.2. there is a problem with brightness. players like MX, vlc are not affecting (increase/decrease) system brightness. if i play movie i have to do manually. what to do?

Do you mean that automatic brightness doesn't work when using MX or VLC, or that you expected the app to take over the brightness and it doesn't?

If the app interferes with automatic brightness that is a problem, but it would be odd for multiple apps to do this.
Do the apps themselves have some setting that relates to brightness (look in the app settings)?

Yes, you got it right. automatic brightness doesn't work when using MX or vlc . For example, if system brightness is 30% and i open MX Player and increase brightness to 15(i.e. full) . Now, Brightness stays to 30%. no changes takes place. i reinstalled MX Player but nothing...
two days ago it worked fine. in two days i used internet, downloaded apps from play store, connect phone to pc for transferring some movies via usb(i am not sure about health status of pc of My friend).

Ok, if it's both MX and VLC, and both used to work, then unless something has changed which might affect both (e.g. both had updates at the same time) I don't think it's the apps.

You didn't have a system update before this started?

Does auto brightness work with other apps still? And did you install anything else just before this started?

If auto brightness has stopped working generally, check the sensor isn't covered by dirt or a case.

MX on mine doesn't respond to auto brightness, I swipe vertically on the left to control it.

I think that (responding to auto brightness) changed with a recent update, not sure.

Yeah isn't that what the guy is talking about? The swiping the screen to change brightness isn't working? That's how I'm reading it anyway :)

It is not the case of system auto brightness. it works perfectly. it is case of players like MX or vlc or km. when i swipe upward/downward in MX , nothing changes(brightness). WHY?

which cache you are saying about ?
Android has a main cache partition - you can not clear it out while Android is running.

However, on most Androids, you can boot into recovery and clear it there.

Google for -

Your-phone-model clear cache recovery

If your model has it, that will help you find the instructions.

Do NOT go to advice about clearing your app caches - that's different - sometimes Google search gives that result also.

this ^^ If that brings no results, Google "(your phone model) recovery mode" and from there you should be able to clear system cache :thumbsupdroid:
