The "automatic" brightness setting SUCKS. It doesnt detect high light situations, like being outdoors. To get the proper brightness you need to use the power control widget to set the brightness up to see it in sunlight. Not a big deal, but after using the widget you either have to manually reset it to automatic in the settings, turn the brightness off or on high. Its just kind of annoying. When your in sunlight without the brightness up to the highest level I can see nothing on the phone. Literally the screen appears to be off. Is this just my phone, or does the incredible really not sense high light situations.

So i think its a major problem with the light sensor. I know my Motorola Droid would turn the Brightness up when I walked into sunlight. The INC seems to do nothing. Walking back inside and changing the settings back and forth is getting pretty old already.

I turned auto brightness off, and put manual brightness all the way up.
I get through the day with enough battery. By about 9 pm, it is a 25%

See thats the problem I have. When the brightness is up that high, my phone lasts for maybe 7 hours.

That's probably the only complaint I have so far. I just took a lunchtime walk outside and couldn't see the screen worth a darn, I thought it was me and my aging eyes or was just typical of most shartphones.

It seems to me the light sensor only works when you first wake up the phone. If I wake the phone up i the dark it turns on the back light for the the 4 bottom buttons and keeps them off when i wake the phone up in the light. I haven't been able to tell of it turns up the main screen brightness when i wake it up in the light with the automatic brightness setting turned on.

Yea mine does the same thing
My problem with that is then you have to manually reset the settings to automatic. once you use the widget it deletes your settings. Plus you cant see the widget in the sunlight so you have to plan ahead when walking outside.

I was having the same issues but I assumed that hte phone just sucked in high sunlight situations. Next time I am out I will disable the auto brightness and check to see if it makes any difference. I was at a wedding this weekend (outdoors) and was trying to take some pics with the phone and it was hard as hell.
